March 18th is the anniversary of the Crimean Annexation. My intitial curiosity is that it has long been rumored that Putin intends on establishing a front on the Dneiper River all the way to Odessa. I don’t know about that, but the Russians have stated that they have 29000 troops in Crimea. Also, NATO sent at least 3000 troops into the Baltics (Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania this week. Perhaps the Russians are preparing a show of force to NATO. Their borders would be much more secure if established on the River border. All of this is speculation, but as the Romans said, “Beware of the Ides of March!”
