No, all it means is that knowing that after being expelled from OU, they would never be accepted to another school, as they would have to explain why they were expelled from OU.

You note that everyone will know about the incident forever. On the other side of your mouth, you argue that they would have to explain why they were expelled. I suspect they were not allowed enough time to confer with legal counsel as to the ramifications of resign vs be expelled.

Being that they were not under criminal indictment or charges, they were not afforded Sixth Amendment protections.
