Obama, first lady flew on separate planes to L.A. on same day

Taxpayers paid for President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama to fly separately Thursday to Los Angeles, where they appeared on separate TV talk shows on the same day.

Mr. Obama flew on Air Force One, which costs about $228,000 per hour of flight time, to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday night in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Obama flew on a different plane Thursday across country to Burbank, California, to tape an appearance on Ellen Degeneres’ show. That show will be broadcast on Monday.

White House deputy press secretary Eric Schultz told reporters Friday that the president and first lady’s “schedules were not in sync in order to travel together.”

Remember the media outrage when the Reagens bought new China for the White House?

I remember them making a big to-do over Nancy's designer gowns, as well. Turned out she'd just borrowed the gowns from the designers, like movie stars do at the Academy Awards.

Ah, the good old days when we worried about things like that!

“As policy, my company does not allow the President, the CEO and the chief engineer to fly together at any time. All three must fly separately.”

Smart policy. But do they always take their own seperate jets with dozens of staff for each?

I dated a gal that had had 12 sisters and brothers. On family trips the mom and dad always flew seperate planes with half each of the kids.

Well, when we need for the sake of National Security for the President and the First Lady to appear on these chat shows, and the shows don’t tape at the same time, I believe the Constitution allows for We, the People to pay taxes toward that aim, of separate flight vehicles and all the fuel necessary.

It’s in there somewhere, I think.

Why are the taxpayers paying to fly the First Lady anywhere? She is not a government employee.

There may be a legal provision to allow it when she represents the President on ceremonial or other public relations purposes. When traveling on AF1 for personal reasons, the President and his guests are supposed to pay first class airfare. But there's always some official reason for the president to travel, isn't there?

Somehow, I can't blame either one of them. How'd you like to travel with either of them?

Obama is having trouble with his beard?

Let's have a little sympathy here for Michelle. That beard gig has to be the toughest job in DC! She gets in a lot of shopping. quite a few shopping trips, and lots of vacay with her mom and the girls, and a truly phenomenal budget, of which the poor dear earns every penny!

My Passamaquoddy shaman and I have read the moss on the birch trees: it tells us that Micki O will be dumping Barry O after 2015. You have not heard the last of her!

All Americans will have to sacrifice to put the economy back on track, Obama said. “Everybody’s going to have to give,” Obama said. “Everybody’s going to have to have some skin in the game.”

Well the bastard and *itch spent more on that little "fun" trip than most of us pay in income taxes our whole working lives.

To put it in perspective, all the taxes on your salary, blood money overtime, etc., went to paying for their little West coast jaunt.

Think on that a while, happy April 15, btw!

Fred was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young pullets, and ten roosters to fertilize the eggs.
He kept records, and any rooster not performing went into the soup pot and was replaced.
This took a lot of time, so he bought some tiny bells and attached them to his roosters.
Each bell had a different tone, so he could tell from a distance, which rooster was performing.
Now, he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report by just listening to the bells.
Fred’s favorite rooster, old Butch, was a very fine specimen, but this morning he noticed old Butch’s bell hadn’t rung at all!
When he went to investigate, he saw the other roosters were busy chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing, but the pullets, hearing the roosters coming, would run for cover.
To Fred’s amazement, old Butch had his bell in his beak, so it couldn’t ring. He’d sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next one.
Fred was so proud of old Butch, he entered him in the Local Farm Show and he became an overnight sensation among the judges. The result was the judges not only awarded old Butch the “No Bell Piece Prize”, but they also awarded him the “Pulletsurprise” as well.
Clearly old Butch was a politician in the making. Who else but a politician could figure out how to win two of the most coveted awards on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the unsuspecting populace and screwing them when they weren’t paying attention.
Vote carefully in the next election, you can’t always hear the bells.
