Spokeswoman Heads to Likely Cruz Campaign

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz's public face to Capitol Hill, Catherine Frazier, is headed home to Houston to join his political operation.

Frazier plans to leave her job as Cruz's official Senate press secretary at the end of the month and relocate to her hometown to join the senator's Jobs, Growth and Freedom PAC. The move indicates she will likely be part of his impending presidential campaign, should the state's junior senator follow through on a run.

Frazier is well known in state and national circles, thanks to her tenure with another Texas presidential contender, former Gov. Rick Perry. Frazier worked for Perry in Austin for six years, including during his 2012 presidential run.

Frazier left Perry's office in early 2013 and moved to Washington as one of the first staffers in Cruz's official Senate office.

She is the second Hill staffer this week to head to Cruz's PAC. The Washington Times reported on Monday that Brian Phillips, the communications director to U.S. Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, joined the Cruz operation as well.

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn’t make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams
