Probably not much hope.
The local Panama City news just showed people on shore picking up pieces of wreckage (which they turned over to authorities). Unfortunately they said that included human remains.

Just passed the scene but visibility is next to nothing. Mobile Command is massive at the boat launch with an equally massive media staging area across the street in the Winn Dixie parking lot. The scene is absolutely surreal in this fog. Never seen anything like it.

I was scanning different channels and came across one in which the news babe was reporting on the accident.
She said they were training for a week out of Elgin AFB. They can’t even read the teleprompter right. It is Eglin.

This follows on from the helicopter crash which killed the French actors in South America. I hope there is not a third event.

Isn't the Florida phase of Ranger School held at Eglin AFB? Wouldn't be the first deaths for that phase of the school. This sounds like it was tragically unavoidable. In other words, no fault of the school in terms of training regs as was the case in past tragedies.

"I hope there is not a third event.' My daughter flies on aeromedical helicopter evac. The weather this time of year is unpredictable. Another reason why I worry. Prayers up for this crew and their families.

Agreed. Sometimes a crash is just a crash.

Isn't the Florida phase of Ranger School held at Eglin AFB? It is, but this training wasn't a part of that course. It was MARSOC and an Army National Guard aircrew supporting them.
