May be more a sign of less trusting giving out that information than actual decrease ownership. That would be my case.

I’d imagine that the increased gun sales were made, at least in part, to newcomers who have come to the realization that our government is out of control and interested in confiscating their newly purchased weapons. So they would most likely be also of a mind not to answer the “poll” accurately. Most people I know who have guns, don’t like to talk freely about their presence in their homes.
