Sigma Alpha Epsilon's national headquarters closed its chapter at the University of Oklahoma Sunday after a video emerged purportedly showing members of the chapter singing a racist chant.
The video quickly gained visibility online. It was obtained and posted to Twitter by Unheard, which describes itself as "an alliance of Black students organized for change within campus administration and atmosphere," shows young men on a bus chanting "There will never be a n----r at SAE."
The tweet, directed at OU president David Boren, says "Racism is alive at The University of Oklahoma."
Students at the university plan to demonstrate on the Norman, Oklahoma campus at 7:30 a.m. local time. A prayer vigil was held Sunday night.
Chelsea Davis, one of two co-directors of Unheard, said the video was recorded during the weekend. Unheard was begun at the beginning of the semester to demand change, especially relating to diversity issues, Davis said.
"Clearly in that video, that is nothing new. That is nothing that just sparks up overnight. That is a chant that was well known, well versed, and seemed to be okay with everybody that was involved," said Davis, a junior at the university.

I feel disturbed by the number of people here who would be fine with responding violently to offensive speech.
Keeping in mind that some people regard opposition to gay marriage with similar outrage, do you also give THEM sanction, where you would not mind vigilante justice and beatdowns? How about against pro-lifers which feminists feel outraged by?
I wrote nothing about race or violence and even provided you with a diverse list of football players who could work with the frat boys who wish to hang blacks from trees.
And from what I can tell, the football players have better debate and oratory skills than the frat boys, and are much more intelligent and articulate than the frat boys.
You’re doing a good job PB...don’t let go.
Oh, I'm sure that's why you picked that scenario. OK, you've convinced me, you have proved beyond the shadow of a doubt, with geometric logic... that your posting had absolutely nothing to do with any intent that violence or the threat of violence be inflicted upon the frat boys.
That's good, because if any group came after them with such intent, the frat boys would be entirely within their rights to prevent any beat-down with deadly force, as I'm sure you would agree.
And, similarly, I'm sure that you will be just as distressed and outraged about any black college students, ANYWHERE, who choose to sing any violent rap lyrics about "killin' crackas".
Wow...I just discovered that President Boren’s son Dan used to work as a page for...former Klansman Robert Byrd.

LOL!
Sadly years of liberal propaganda and trumped up "outrage" have taken their toll. This of the bastion of free speech - the United States of America. People have had it so ingrained in them to express "horror" at some niggling off hand statement. In their own minds they have to lead off to show their conformity.
Bring it down to basics and ask them about some brutal attack for laughs such as "knockout games". See if they could actually see what is a subject for outrage. Just my humble opinion here.
I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.
(Attributed to both Voltaire and Edmund Burke.
No one on a college campus should be threatening violence and the national organization had a right to revoke the SAE charter at OU.
Luckily they didn’t play any rap music.
Regardless of whether they are right, wrong or indifferent--how could you live in this society and not know doing something like this 1. could very well be recorded 2. would destroy your life?
Do as I do, not as I say?
Hypocrite
I'm so glad you agree. It makes me feel so much better.
ITA!
I honestly have no idea how to fight this or if it’s even possible at this point.
What a good little soldier you are for the Left.
Well said. It’s sad what is happening to this Country and our Constitution.
Why am I not “offended” by this? Hahaha Maybe because I live in reality and I’m not a “victim” or my being “offended” isn’t cause for ruining the lives of other people?
I used to wonder why and how we got to this point in our society and why our government is as huge as it is and why we have less freedom than we did 50 years ago. Now I no longer wonder because it’s as plain as day for people who actually want to be free. The “victim mentality” has permeated every aspect of our society. Being called a “racist” for being proud of my heritage while those of other races and ethnicities are “permitted” to celebrate such sorta leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Oh and my Give A Damn is Busted!
That this is even News while the real stats on crime, actual crime not just bad words or bad/hateful thoughts, just cements what has been taking place in our Country since the end of WWII.
Interesting. I was a kid in 1975 and saw first hand what was happening in philly. Saw and was involved in fights as a teen because of it and we didn’t do anything about then and now we have this. The Media (the Liberal/Marxist Media) has the control of the message and this is the result.
They sure are dumb. They didn’t get the memo that Free Speech is for some and not for others.
ROTFLMAO! Guess I have that non-existent “white privilege” too...grew up in an inner city and dealt with the dregs of society. Fortunately, I was able by the hard work of my legally immigrant family and my grades to get a college education and meet my husband in college. We were able to raise our kids like he was raised, in an affluent, white neighborhood in the burbs. Now we pay for all the “victims” of our once wonderful society. Now my kids, academically excellent students, get little if any scholarship money because we all know the minority soon to be majority students regardless of their academic excellence, get basically a free ride. I’m supposed to be happy about this?
Guess what? I’m not. Where’s my so called White Privilege because I never had it, my kids sure as hell don’t have it.
And there you have it! A clear, nonsensical post. You or someone else makes a statement about having kids beat up and probably maimed because they said offensive words about some race but that post isn’t “offensive” or a “threat” but those in the article is offensive and threatening. That makes a whole lot of sense. RME
