Thank you. Aweful hard looking back, how futile
it all was just because of the leftism of the
Democrats. They threw it away then just like Iraq
and Afghanistan today.

The best short description of what happened is stated by Jean Jaques Servan-Shcrieber in "The American Challenge." Very concisely he describes how Ho Chi Minh outsmarted LBJ and beat him on the American campuses and in the western media.
I can still hear the voice of Tom Moorer growling in that way of his: "Seems like they turned all our victories into defeats."
