The Benghazi Committee's Belated Interest in Hillary's Hidden E-mails
National Review ^ | 3/7/2015 | Andrew C. McCarthy

Posted on 03/08/2015 6:31:41 AM PDT by Servant of the Cross

Chairman Trey Gowdy knew about Clinton’s secret server six months ago, and that too is a scandal.

In assessing the Benghazi select committee headed up by Chairman Trey Gowdy (R., S.C.), there are two possibilities, and they are not mutually exclusive: (1) The committee is just a Potemkin probe erected by the Republican establishment to get restive conservatives to pipe down, and (2) the committee is incompetent.

The panel, of course, was commissioned by the Republican-controlled House to investigate the circumstances surrounding the September 11, 2012, attack in which al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorists killed Christopher Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, and three other Americans — information-management officer Sean Smith and two former Navy SEALs, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, contract employees whose valor saved dozens of lives during the siege.

The select committee’s ten sleepy months of operation have not warranted much attention — except to observe its lethargy. But questions about it arise thanks to the newly erupted Hillary Clinton e-mail scandal. Mostly, it is one question: Why is the scandal newly erupted?

The Benghazi massacre was the lowlight of Mrs. Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state. Suddenly this week, the public was informed, for the first time, that during those four tumultuous years, she conducted State Department business through a private e-mail system designed to evade government record-keeping requirements. The scheme is redolent of Clintonian hypocrisy: (snip)

Gowdy let something else slip while unburdening himself to Politico: he and his committee have known since last summer that Mrs. Clinton conducted business by private e-mail.

As sad as it is, all who enter the WDC beltway become compromised.

And there’s a term for that: Potomac Fever. It infects everyone who becomes a denizen of Capitol Hill. There is no immunity from it.

It is my understanding that Trey has been very supportive of Lindsey Graham. And that Graham mentions Gowdy as a possible Supreme Court nominee frequently.

I like Gowdy a lot; but that is the epitome of a non-starter right there. Lindsey Graham is one "wide stance" away from the oblivion he deserves.

This blogger noticed that Trey committee was a farce too

https://theflyingcameldotorg.wordpress.com/2014/12/16/benghazi-trey-gowdy-succumbs-to-the-obama-version/

Trey actually held a closed door Amnesty committee meeting just for the La Raza gang and banned anyone who was anti Amnesty from the room.

He works for Bonehead so he works for K street . Bonehead is a crooked drunk who lets Pelosi run the House just as our tax dollars are flowing to his real K street bosses !

I remember when all the networks interrupted daily programming to run the Watergate hearings non-stop.

Too bad the NSA has become corrupted, and the boys and girls down in the fusion centers are now working for Team Tyranny instead of defending the Constitution, like they all swore to do.

Only one solution I see for all of this: conservative Americans overrun the Republican Party at all local levels and precincts.

Join, participate, question all, speak smartly and strongly, advocate conservative principles succinctly, don’t be shut down, build numbers. Never give, never surrender.

If that’s true I’ve lost all respect for Gowdy.

No, you don’t need more than that....the reason it’s called INSIDER information is that it is INSIDER information - information that requires keeping certain peoples’ confidentiality. You are free to choose to ignore it if you want. I’m just guaranteeing you here, you’re gonna end up disappointed. There are certain fixes that are in regarding Gowdy’s career goals.

Yeah, I know, his videos are awesome and he has the ability to blow this thing wide open. I get it. But he won’t. I know it. Andy McCarthy seems to know it. And he knows more than I do. Maybe you know more than both of us?

Politicians get used to looking out for their own careers. That eventually becomes their raison d’être.

I believe there are emails from stevens to State wherein he was asking for more security. This was know in a relatively short time. So what is the email source for these cables? Are they on the secret server? We already have those emails. So where are they from? The blue Ribbon Selct Committee can’t seem to locate the heading on the emails they have had since 2012.

Not only did they know what was going on and were part of it, they were also in on the plan to blame the attack in Benghazi on the TEA Party.

The plan was to make it appear as if the TEA Party had collaborated with the terrorist to take hostages and make Obama look like Peanuts Carter with the Iranian hostages.

By blaming the TEA Party for the attack they could also blame the TEA Party for the terrorist getting all the weapons in Libya the Obama adm. claimed were being bought back.

Sitting around waiting for the targets of investigations to provide you with evidence is ludicrous. They could have sent agents to go and search for tapes, hard drives and papers, pack them up in cardboard boxes and haul them to Goudy’s office just like the FBI would do to a suspect. But he didn’t, and that’s all I need to know to understand where these cases are going. These people have months or years to destroy or alter all of the evidence that would incriminate them!

I believe Trey Gowdy is waiting to get ALL of the evidence.

Why should he leak info in dribs and drabs just to satisfy drooling news hounds.Play your cards close to the vest.and DON”T tip your hand.

Too many scandals get nickled and dimed to have small facts diffused so they become irrelevant or forgotten by the time the big day comes.Be it trial or open investigation.Sounds like a bit of character assignation going on here just because he doesn’t leak everything out just to satisfy a hungry impatient public.

Does Andy also address the part that the “transparency” of this administration might have played in the belated look?
