While waiting in line to buy tickets a few years ago I listened to a cell phone conversation (I could not have avoided hearing without giving up my place in line) . Speaking was a young 30ish woman who was talking about the “choice” she made in being gay.

She said she regretted her choice because it had not brought her anything except grief. It was a heart breaking conversation for me to overhear. I wish I had moved to the back of the line.

That she felt comfortable speaking about it in public tell you that she was extremely distressed or that we’ve fallen so far.
