Weeks after a United States District Court Judge in Mobile ordered a probate judge there to issue same-sex marriage licenses, the Alabama Supreme Court has ordered a halt to same-sex marriages in the state.
The order, called a writ of mandamus, had been requested by the Alabama Policy Institute and the Alabama Citizens Action Program last month.
"As it has done for approximately two centuries, Alabama law allows for 'marriage' between only one man and one woman," the order said. "Alabama probate judges have a ministerial duty not to issue any marriage license contrary to this law. Nothing in the United States Constitution alters or overrides this duty."
Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore has been a vocal opponent of same-sex marriage in the media in the last month. However, he is not listed among the concurring or dissenting judges and appears to have recused himself from the case.

Principled dissent due to allegiance to a higher authority. Thus the church and this country began.
Well, the smaller the government, the less corruption and it starts with the self-government of the individual. Self-government is the root problem as well as the key to our future as it was at America’s founding. The only successful self government is having Jesus Christ in the center of one’s life. That too was the real reason for America’s freedom and greatness and will be the key again if we are to have a rebirth of freedom.
In that sense America is like a preview of coming attractions due to arrive very soon as well but a little later (a few decades from now, IMO): the personal rulership of Jesus Christ on the earth in which man will experience peace and prosperity as never before. (This will happen only after seven years of the worst hell the earth has ever seen before or since - but Jesus will have taken you and I and all believers with him to Heaven during this catastrophic time of God’s wrath on the earth in preparation for Jesus’ thousand-year reign. God is a good God but He is also a God of judgment, hence the seven-year tribulation. But compare that seven years of wrath and judgment to the following 1000 years of his grace and mercy of the most benevolent and peaceful rule the earth has ever seen.)
In the meantime, it’s going to take vision, patience, and faith in a big, miraculous God. We do our small bit with patience and faith, and he does his mighty bit, as He did at America’s founding. He’s the same God that wrought this miraculous country and I don’t believe He’s done with us yet.
Amen.
this is not an immutable trait.
it is a behavior.
Judges are first to tell citizens “if you don’t like a law then write to your legislator.” The citizens did and the judges respond by saying “just kidding”.
I a judge does not like the law, the judge should write their legislator.
This is all about a behavior.
(ie, this makes about as much sense as say the judge caught beneth his bench “doing inappropriate things” during court was born that way)
The post you replied to and the thread of our discussion has been about the feds unconstitutionally interfering in areas the Constitution does not allow including marriage and so-called “gay marriage” (an oxymoron). “Gay marriage” is exclusively an issue of the states and the people.
As far as the sodomy thing itself, it is deviant and those who engage in it are usually very unhappy people. A sick world labels “healthy” that which is sick and “sick” that which is healthy. Nevertheless, Jesus died for them as well as for all of us, He loves them, and will heal them given the chance. However, having compassion and not condemnation on the individual doesn’t ratify or condone the gay politician agenda nor prevent states from banning gay marriage. What adults voluntarily do in private is their business but that does not mean I have to support their behavior. There is no such thing as “gay rights” which is another oxymoron.
It will be recognized. God recognizes it as a felony: a capital crime. Seeing things as God sees them minimizes the hassle.
Leviticus 20:13
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
