We were never going to win in Congress.
That is the epitaph spoken by Speaker Boehner ally Representative Tom Cole on the collapse of House Leaderships resolve to legislatively fight Executive Amnesty.
It may also be the final nail in the coffin for the notion of co-equal branches of government, as President Obama has already announced that he is considering using unilateral executive actions to ban ammunition and raise corporate taxes, on top of his massive Internet regulation announced last week.

The Kentucky Purchase
Things look bad - our “leaders” are a fading old man in the Senate beholden to Donohue and his Chamber of Commerce cheap labor interests and a bootlicking drunk in the House, with Jeb Bush in a prime spot to get the presidential nomination. Too bad they think we will go along with them, remember 1992, when enough of us ditched his father for Perot to send him to a humiliating defeat at the polls. They never want our support until the next election; let’s withhold it from them.
It’s too late for term limits except those imposed by ... .
If nothing else, people should understand, if they want freedom, it will no longer be gained politically.
I am like others, elections are not going to fix this. I will no longer bother a “hopin’ and a Dreamin’.
2016 means nothing to me other than it will be a couple years more of pure tyranny. After that, more tyranny.
Screw ‘term limits’.
A lawless dictatorship with a complicit oligarchy that currently does not follow the rule of law IS NOT going to follow any additional limits we place on them.
We are beyond stopping or fixing this tyranny by civil means.
If you folks will not wake up to this fact now, you never will - not even when you are standing over the trench you are about to be gunned down into.
No. ...the winners waved the surrender flag.
"He did that to me twenty times. Then I got smart," said Herb Tarlek. Well, Boehner has done "it" to all of us at least twenty times. Anyone here finally feel smarter today?

Everyone is blaming Boehner, but the real blame goes to McConnell.
When he threw out Harry Reid’s rules, he handed back to Harry Reid the ability to thwart any GOP agenda Obama did not like, making sure, again, that it would not be Obama vetoes demonstrating who was and was not seeking compromise, nor would it be repeated Obama vetoes of spending bills with riders he did not like that would threaten funding the government. No McConell INSURED it would be the House GOP majority, seeking a GOP agenda and GOP priorities that would do that, because McConnell WANTS to lose while playing nice.
I really wish that guy had poisoned him.
This makes the euphoria we felt over our decisive win of last November seem childishly naive. There was never any chance that Boehner would have the balls to thwart Obama — or that McConnell even wanted to. Let’s be honest, they are Vichy Republicans. Their loyalty is to their positions and perks, which means their donor class — power they have ceded to the Führer. I am mostly angry with myself for allowing myself to believe — then — that things might actually change.

You are both correct. I am at a loss as to what to do now and to escape the normalcy bias of almost all of us. The only thing I can think of now that is remotely still within a governmental structure is for some of the states to secede. Nothing seems likely and certainly not any GOP 2016 electioneering efforts.
Four months ago the Republicans were given a very clear mandate by the American people, the public's overwhelming rejection of Obama's policies could not have been clearer. Today the GOP decided to preemptively surrender and give Obama everything he's asked for.
It's over. The GOP will stick around for another decade or so, but the American people will have lost all confidence in the party's willingness to fight for what they claim to believe in.
He didn’t cave. He pretended to be against it.
oh my God I haven't laughed so hard I needed that thanks!
I want to cry, but the tears no longer come. It is over and the dorks that say we can fix this politically are nothing other than dorks.
The GOP has put the American people in this position by their cowardice and collusion with the democrat communists.
Millions of voters held their noses and voted for Republican weaklings only because they were told that having the majority would be better.
I don’t think the GOP can try using that rational again. The GOP is finished.
Yes, I agree with that.
I was unhappy in November, because these traitors had shown us who owned them a while ago. I posted my tagline then. Believe me, I take no pleasure in being right. I wish like hell I had been wrong. We can’t afford to be fooled by these prostitutes any longer.
