News reports say that the Armored Car broke down. May be that breakdown was on purpose if the robbers showed up so fast.

One of them will crack.

I imagine there are all sorts of ways to make a car break down - from adding something to the fuel, putting a cut in a fuel line or brake line, etc. Of course then you don’t
if the breakdown won’t be in a well populated area.
Probably pretty easy to rig something up with a remote control too. Take a small radio control toy car, replace one of the wheels with a small circular saw, bungee cord it to a brake line or fuel line. Follow the truck and wait until you are 30 miles from nowhere and turn the toy truck on. (Hmmm - that might actually work!?)
Of course I imagine armored cars get inspected and/or are guarded at every stop.) Like the earlier thread was saying - probably an inside job.

Sounds like a lot but could easily fit in one duffle bag. Melt it down and it will be impossible to trace.

Someone could have put stuff in the road, or maybe even gotten to the truck beforehand and sabotaged it.

With something this big, I think they will find a portion of it, and the people who did it.
Anything more than one person will be found out. One or more will be careless.

More than an inside job.
The truck actually had no real gold in it.It was only gold plated bars of lead. The owner of the ‘gold’ was in cahoots with the transfer company. They staged the entire thing is a ruse to collect on the insurance.
They plan to split the proceeds as well as keep the original gold.
I think I am going to write a book!

These guards will be watched for months to see if they have unusual spending patterns or they bought items beyond their financial means.

The truck actually had no real gold in it.It was only gold plated bars of lead. Not lead....tungsten ...has the same specific gravity as gold....so same size bar weighs the same.
