Interesting post. Who decides who is stable?
I’ve had firearms my entire adult life. In 2006, I underwent surgery for a large melanoma, and underwent a full year of interferon chemo-therapy. It was so brutal, that one of the higher risks for death while on interferon is suicide. So, I began a simultaneous prophylactic course of anti-depressants. I ended it when I ended my chemo.
So. I’ve got a concealed carry permit. And I’ve been on a rather large dose of anti-depressants. You gonna take my gun away from me?
Oh, by the way. I’m conservative, and voted against the current regime. If you are in the government deciding whether I’m stable or not, and you are a life-long bureaucrat......you bet your sweet ass you’re gonna decide I’m unstable.
Be careful what you wish for.
Good point. That is the potential downside. We would need controls to verify that the tests being applied are testing pscyhological stability and not political point of view.
Because without some controls, there will be liberals trying to get into the position of psychological tester so they can try to weed conservatives out of teaching positions.

I don’t know. Do you have anything good?
