They can charge anything they want for the different levels of service, as they do already. What they can’t do is scam people. That’s a different story.

An example of scamming is a telcom restricting service to a particular service or website. For an example to make it more understandable here on Free Republic, it would be like a telcom coming to Free Republic and saying that if Free Republic pays a fee to them, they will guarantee service for their customers. If Free Republic doesn’t agree to pay the fee, then the telcom cannot guarantee that their customers will be able to access Free Republic.

That’s one such thing that these telcoms are doing, in supplying their customers with “specially selected websites and services, meaning the websites who have paid for it.

Also, there is the “throttling” of the speeds, even when a customer has paid for it already. Then there are the “fast lanes” where service is slowed down until a website pays for a “speed lane”.

There are things that are not to be allowed ... by those telcoms.
