Net Neutrality: Government Destruction Of The Internet
The Inquisitr ^ | 3/1/15 | David Webb

Posted on 03/01/2015 6:34:08 PM PST by Chris in VA

In a landmark decision on net neutrality, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) declared the Internet a public utility under Title II of the 1934 Communications Act as reported by CBS News. The 3-2 split decision forces Internet service providers to not actively discriminate in terms of what content is transmitted at what speed.

Obama issued a statement supporting the net neutrality decision.

“…will protect innovation and create a level playing field for the next generation of entrepreneurs.”

Just like Obamacare has? Just like the stimulus package?

Walker or Cruz would probably be safe. The gay Jeb might have misunderestimated America’s desire to not be ruled by a bunch of bullies. These gays will not be able to stop... the devil will egg them on until they become even shriller dishes than before.

Yep, just like Obamacare. A lib friend of mine was jumping for joy over Obamacare, now she says it’s a nightmare. She was on the phone for 2 hours trying to straighten something out, 6 different phone trees she had to go through, then got disconnected twice. This is what really ticks me off about liberals is because they ALWAYS have to learn the hard way to the detriment of everybody else. Communism is just awesome to them, no matter what you tell them, no matter how many history books you through in their face, THEY have to live in Communism and only then can they decide how they feel about it. Liberalism truly is a mental illness.

Worse than Obamacare.

Why shouldn’t ISP’s charge more for companies that use more bandwith? Why should every bit be treated the same? Somebody has to pay and it should be Netflix customers like Star Traveler not the rest of us that don’t use Netflix.

It’s amazing, they put the thumb of government on the internet for their entertainment.

You must be living out of town ... I have a relative who can get that sort of thing and they can’t get cable or DSL.

As a side note, I’m going to guess that part of what the FCC is going to do is get the last small percentage of people who can’t get broadband right now ... they’re going to make it so that they can get broadband. And it will be priced at the same level as what those in the city get.

Just my guess ... along with the fact that they’re not going to allow throttling and fast lanes.

Except that, like most people under 75, I don’t have a land line

MANY times a land line works during a power outage when cell phones don't.

This same thing was said about Clinton ... that he wasn’t going to leave either ... LOL ...

And then, the “other side” said the same thing about Bush, that he wasn’t going to leave.

And now, I’m hearing the same thing again, but this time about Obama.

This has always been nothing more than CRAZY-TALK and the stuff of conspiracy nuts, and not something for “real life”. Obama is leaving, and you can consider that GUARANTEED.

If it’s a phone company land line, then that runs on batteries at the main office. So yes, they run during power outages.

But, if it’s a cable company land line, they have a small battery inside your unit in the house and that gives out in a few hours. The phone company one won’t and will be okay for days and days, even if your power is off all during that time.

Not allowing fast lanes will soon clog up the place with the 10% of users who are Netflix customers.

I live in Fargo. Most people would consider the entire state “out-of-town.”

You’re asking the Feds to fix a local monopoly granted by your local government. Don’t trade away your liberty. The Internet is working just fine without FedGov’s dirty hands.

That’s the thing, Netflix does pay for increased usage. And, I also pay for increased usage. That’s already happening.

The different levels of service where people pay for the level of service they want is there already and that will remain there. No one has any problem paying for usage. That’s never been the problem.

The problem is “throttling” where a company slows down data, even though you’ve already paid for it. And the problem is “fast lanes” ... where the telcoms say that even if you have already paid for the speedy service, they now give you that already-paid-for speedy service — IF — you pay an “extra charge” ... LOL ...

And then, the telcoms ALSO decide what services you can get on the Internet, according to “who has paid them” to get their data to the telcom customers.

It would be like Comcast telling Free Republic that they’ll make sure that the FR website gets to their customers — IF — Free Republic pays Comcast the EXTRA CHARGE. If not, they can’t guarantee that their customers will be able to get Free Republic at all. THIS would be made ILLEGAL by the FCC.

Liberalism truly is a mental illness.

How about human nature ?

Hope springs eternal in the human breast
Man never is, but always to be blest

We’ll see soon what they are going to fix. All I’m waiting for is the document to be released in a few weeks.

If I pay for 150 Mbps down, I expect to get the 15 Mbps Netflix movie without a single problem, because the company has my money for that 150 Mbps ... :-) ...

I’ll say the same thing about that as I said with Clinton and Bush ... talk to me about it on January 21, the day after inauguration ... it will save a whole lot of discussion in the meantime ... LOL ...

The times continue to change. The GOP at the time of Clinton was capable of impeaching him, for instance.

“Obama” is an illegal alien. He is also a tyrant. He has proved, like a good in-your-face Bolshevik, that his opponents are gutless and impotent. I think he has photographs of Boehner, McConnell, and many other top Republicans in bed with boys, and that they have all been sent copies.

The acts of tyranny of “Obama” and the Bolsheviks are carefully calibrated. Each of their power grabs must be profitable to them, but it must fall just below the threshhold of waking up too many people, so that those who DO wake up can be marginalized as “kooks.”

You know. People who believe in the conspiracy theory that “Obama’s” “birth certificate” carries the typefaces of six different typewriters.

It’s possible that staying beyond January 20, 2017 would wake up too many people. BUT it is also possible that the government schools have been more successful than we realize. That is, it may be that enough people are now as ignorant of the Constitution as the government wants them to be, so that “Obama” can stay on.

Alternatively, of course, “Obama” doesn’t really matter. The next “Democrat” Bolshevik or the next “Republican” will be just as much an agent of the Muslim Brotherhood as “Obama” is.

Our George-Soros-owned voting machines will not permit any other result.

Let me “say this about that” ... :-) ...

I would want to know about ANY and EVERY Internet service I am able to purchase — TWO THINGS ... (1) the highest speed that is guaranteed, steady and deliverable. (2) the possible maximum speed [and that is just a “bone” I throwing to the telcom dogs, so they can use it for advertising]. I really ONLY want to know and pay for ... just #1.

Also, it must be made clear (and most do already) what the total bandwidth allowed is.

If there is one thing I would want from the FCC is that I would want them to enforce “truth in advertising” in that the ONLY THING that can be advertised (for “speed”) is what can be GUARANTEED ... steady and without fail! THAT is the ONLY THING I want to pay for, in a consumer service ... NO HYPE from the Telcoms!
