Actually, why apologize? It was his opinion. It wasn’t offensive if it wasn’t meant to be offensive.
People have to stop walking on eggshells. Be nice, be respectful, but your opinion is your opinion.
Exactly! Viva le difference!
I think she was right. People eat differently than others. In the south the whites eat like the blacks. Soul food is another word for southern food or country cooking.
In New York I’m sure there are more blacks eating pig’s feet and collard greens than there are whites.
I agree with most of your post, but of course things can be offensive if they’re not meant to be offensive.
I agree with you 100%. Nonetheless the comment is still ignorant because its a really simple issue of economics. Whatever a new store doesn’t carry will just mean business for another one who will carry the goods. The worry is over supply and demand which are after all elastic.
The point is, I doubt he cared if it was offensive and it probably was given in the “f#cking white people” voice.

Why are you defending the racist jackass?
I agree. She’s worried that a fairly low budget supermarket is going to be replaced by a yuppie boutique. Perfectly reasonable.
The first part of his opinion is also correct. Local grocers know their customers better and provide a superior product.
But dont even try to get off telling me that a boutique store is just fine for me ‘cause I’m white.
What if I like chitlin’s AND menudo?
I agree, Marron - there was nothing wrong or offensive in the person’s statements about food preferences in the various ethnic groups.
People are taking themselves too seriously. Why is it wrong to make a simple statement like was said about the differences between the eating preferences in a black community and those of a white community? Isn’t that exactly what market management is all about?
