But if the House impeaches and it goes to the Senate for conviction, there quickly becomes the first problem. Conviction requires a 2/3 majority vote, which is 67 Senators, but Republicans only hold 54 seats. They might convince a democRAT or two to vote to convict but the likelyhood of getting 13 cross-over votes is zero. The other complicating fact is historical. No president has ever been convicted of high crimes and misdemeanors in the Senate. None.
So while I understand the anger and emotion of wanting this lawless president impeached, just impeaching him and not convicting him will damage the Republicans and not Obama. Just like with Clinton. And with not conviction in the Senate likely, this is an exercise in futility. Wishful thinking. A waste of time well spent.
The 2/3 vote required in the Senate to convict him fuels his lawlessness. If he knows he can't be impeached, he just does what he wants with impunity. I think our best bet until this guy leaves office, is to defund some of these agencies Obama is using to circumvent the Constitution and Congress to do what he wants without anybody controlling him. Take their money away from them. Hit them in the pocket book where it will hurt. Otherwise, I think we're going to have to wait for the 2016 elections, hope we can gain the presidency and maintain our majorities in the Congress.
Some of the Republicans are hoping for a place in the New Imperial Order and others just hope that the crocodile will eat them last. The few other Republicans are not enough to stem the progress. Most conservative folks think we are headed for the cliff and are pretty close. I believe we are over the cliff and just waiting to see how hard and jagged are the rocks at the bottom. The slop turned sown in 1913 with the ratification of the 13th Amendment. The edge of the precipice was passed with the re-electtion of the Sultan, or perhaps with the nomination or McCain.
Pointless discussion.
We all know what needs to happen. We’re all just too afraid to be the first one up that particular hill.
The same evil bastards still run things and the same weak capons pretend they are going to change it.
The newly-elected Republicans were supposed to do something - it’s just a little surprising that it turned out to be going down on their knees to Obama and sucking his.....
Impeachment takes too long and with th Sultan will not have any effect even if it gets so far as Senate deliberation. By that time the Sultan will be way beyond the reach of Impeachment. Something has to be done NOW to avoid the complete dissolution of the Republic or at least its Venezuelification. Whatever can be done that is effective itself would be contrary to the Constitution would comport with the Declaration of Independence, that other and prior Founding Document.
I have posted many times that the only way the current _resident would get impeached is if the Dems started the proceedings.
That is unlikely. Though they are not particularly pleased with the _reisdent, they are willing to ride out the remaining 2 years.
Exactly what I have said since this POS got in our white house...not only do we all know what needs to happen, we all know what happens to those who even get close to that particular hill...
As bad as he’s been the first 6 years, it’s nothing compared to what his final two scorched earth years will be on this country.
Being the first one up the hill isn’t what worries me - from what I see around me, there wouldn’t be enough people to join in the party. Until the people are really hurting, things will continue to get worse. Pray for the best, prepare for the worst.
Republicans have abrogated their power to the courts. This of course means a 5/4 majority depending on which particular one judge is with the 5. Thanks to McCain and Graham, Obama has already gotten a number liberal/left wing judges on the federal bench and two SC judges both hard leftists (Sotomayor and Kagan).
Thanks to POS, McCain and Graham, but worse damn the votes who re-elected them. We have a Republican with column, make no mistake about it.
Been saying it since Bush V McCain.
By then, it may well be a Warsaw Ghetto moment.
So be it...
The author is this article concludes that an Article V Convention is he only solution to the current mess.
We?
The Congress and Senate are majority Republican. Yes, “we” elected them and they haven’t done a damned thing to check any of this.
What are “we” supposed to do. Stage an armed revolt in which we’d be shot down like dogs?
We can only hope for some miracle that seems not to be on the horizon.
God help us all.
That’s my question, too. I just don’t get it. He has some power from somewhere. If it’s blackmail that means there’s not one person in congress willing to fall on their sword for America.

For those who think the Article V process is too risky, I repeat what other posters have said, "What other options do you see?"
To summarize from a previous post by Grace G, I see it as:
1. Elect More Republicans - Failed due to RINO/Uni-party confluence.
2. Article V Convention of States to propose Amendments - Needed to try to take power from the federal government back to the states and reel in the the federal leviathan.
3. State Nullification - Last ditch effort to try to take power back from the federal monster, though by this point it may be too late...
4. State Secession - Could either end up peaceably like the breakup of the Czechoslovakia in 1993 or a brutal:
5. Civil War II like the first one.... The longer we wait on #2, the more likely #3, then #4 and finally #5. .
Quick review: We need 34 states to pass an application, then Congress shall, by law, call a Convention of States as soon as it receives application from 2/3 of the State Legislatures. That's 34 states. We now have 30 working on it.
