One blow of 17-year-old, 6 ft. tall, 170 lb. Trayvon Martin’s fist put the unsuspecting George Zimmerman flat on his back, his head bruised by the concrete sidewalk, Martin astride his torso, his pounding blows to Zimmerman’s face continuing. Somehow, Zimmerman was able to retrieve his pistol from a jacket pocket and fire a single, well-placed shot, ending the mayhem and preserving his life.

Only minutes prior to this unexpected assault on his person, Zimmerman had ceased surveillance of the residential area on the order of the Sanford police dispatcher, who was in constant voice contact with Zimmerman. His return to his automobile was immediately interrupted by Martin.

The dispatcher had informed Zimmerman that a police patrol car was being dispatched to the scene, and it did arrive almost simultaneously with the fatal conclusion of the Martin/Zimmerman struggle.

Background: Trayvon Martin, having committed two felonious criminal offenses on the property of the Miami-Dade high school, offenses kept “in-house” by school officials and not reported to the municipal police, had been expelled from the school and sent by his parents, who resided in the Miami-Dade school district, to live with a female friend of Trayvon’s father in the gated community about 200 miles distant, where Zimmerman participated in the neighborhood watch organization, the physical assault on his person occurred - - - and Trayvon Martin’s life ended.
