Transparency... means you can’t see it.

I like that.

Maybe the Redditors are starting to figure out that Net Neutrality doesn’t mean a “free and open” Internet. That it actually means higher prices and a monitored, controlled, and manipulated Internet due to monitoring. All meaning that everything Obama said was a bald faced lie. Maybe after a few thousand lies from The King they might figure out that just because someone says something doesnt make it true and that not all people that smile are good.

Not true. The FCC usually posts a Notice of Proposed Rule Making. The public can then comment. The FCC will then amend the rules, make no changes or not implement any of the proposed changes.

> This actually frightens me, when we have a major media outlet basically ridiculing the idea that the federal government has any obligation to release the content of a major, non-military regulation, and treating those who demand such release as basically irrational!

The MSM can’t help it. They’re under Satan sand the AntiChrist’s spell.

Isn't the FCC effectually become what is commonly thought of as a Star Chamber?

“Don’t worry. They will make up the rules as they go, and you will like it or lump it. Nobody is going to stop them.”

that was exactly what I was thinking .. plus they buy more time to see what little opposition exists and what they are saying and doing. Then they can adjust the rules to better withstand court challenges. Why should they expose their details when they can draw the opposition offsides?

but your point is important. No matter what they do - no one will stop them. The carriers will file court challenges but that takes time and no matter the outcome the FCC and Obama will do what they want.

“Common sense” speech control — for the “common good”

They always say it's for the common good don't they?

You know, the rats always accuse us of being haters. For the most part, they are right. I despise those slime sucking POS MOFOs.

I have always maintained that I never hated anybody in my life. I satisfy myself with bemusement.

Well, I have a question. Where does DSL stand in this equation? I had DSL, and it got progressively slower, to the point where it was unviable. Now how could this be? I don’t believe my connection capacity was diminishing.

My conjecture is that the servers were becoming increasingly intolerant of slow connections, and DSL was being “kicked to the side of the road”, just as dial-up had been. So, I was forced to give it up and move to COMCAST.

So now we see on HuffPost how all these lefty groups are taking credit for this “democratic” upheaval of the staus quo, and the question occurs, are these just a bunch of indignant DSL users? Is that what it’s all about? Slow down the internet to accommodate DSL ? ... and by the way give the FCC supreme dictatorial power over the internet????

It's called the Freedom of Information Act, Brian. The hippies finally got something right! Ha-ha! Just kidding. But not really.

Maybe bemusement is all you can do sometimes, to keep from going stark raving mad. Rats can drive you to drink.

I'm behind the curve on this issue. I hate to make a comment on what I
have not had the chance to at least read up on. So I'll start by
wading through the short article at Fox News before entering any opinions on the issue.

I’m confident I shall catch up on what some of you already know on this issue. Patience is a virtue. Or at least that adage has seemed to be a time honored principle. :)

Impose on companies such as Comcast? These crony monopolists love government.

Those “crony capitalists” think they love 0bama’s idea of “Free Enterprise.” Some do, of course (you mentioned Comcast). Like the German Industrialists of the 30s, they will discover the power will not be in their hands (this has already played out many times, but many never learn ~ sigh).

We have a cable monopoly in my town (not Comcast), but there remain options open. 0bama, and his many Trons intend close these options and to control free speech (the free flow of ideas). The many stupid ones think they can share in the power ~ they can’t.

Thanks for the comeback.

we have a major media outlet basically ridiculing the idea that the federal government has any obligation to release the content of a major, non-military regulation, and treating those who demand such release as basically irrational!

Most “major media” is not news ~ hasn’t been for 50 years. It’s propaganda (even much of what passes as “news” on FOX), and they serve only the prevailing Ideology.

See OAN (while they remain “clean”). OAN is only in 20 million homes, or so. Good luck.

Thanks for the comeback.

“Don’t worry.”

I won’t. The time to worry was before 1900. Probably by or before the time Lincoln was assassinated.

They will make up the rules as they go

As always is the case. And, they will fail, but we will all pay a frightful price. Again, as always is the case.

Thanks for the comeback.
