The Obama administration released a plan on Friday for how the Department of Homeland Security will deal with a shutdown, as Congressional leaders remain at an impasse over how to fund the agency.
The Associated Press reports that airport security checkpoints, Secret Service, and border patrols are among the operations exempted from a shutdown. But those deemed non-essential workers would be furloughed.
Essential workers must continue to work, but they wont be paid until Congress finds an agreement to fund the agency.
The House failed to approve a stop-gap measure on Friday night that would have extended the agencys funding for three weeks. Some Republicans refused to back the measure because it didnt specifically defund President Obamas executive actions on immigration, while Democrats mostly voted against the bill because they want a longer-term funding measure.
Well said, sir.
Don’t forget that Clapper said it’s Very Dangerous World ,Oh were his words written by the White House just for the shut down ?
Much ado ....
The media is frightened about the risk to our national security if DHS takes a temporary shut down and fans those flames.
But none of them freaked out when DHS were fully operational and allowed thousands of illegals to flow into the country with who knows what sort of diseases and criminal back grounds.
230,000 employees.
If serious, vote down Body Mortgage ACA as an exchange.
Where’s the idea GOP?
ACA Body Mortgage repealed vs. DHS 230,000 staying employed
I would not be surprised if the republican leadership was in on it as well. They are all the same with few exceptions. Ponder that for a moment.
“”Hey, I have a wild idea. If we are trillions in debt,,, and someone is non-essential....Oh, never mind”””
Right, save your breath or your typing - it would never get through the thick skulls in DC.
However, I would go for no funding for the Secret Service. Those poor guys need a break anyway - especially if they are on the WH detail. Let the all powerful one fend for himself....
“”But none of them freaked out when DHS were fully operational and allowed thousands of illegals to flow into the country “”
This is exactly the right time to say:
What difference at this point does it make?
By law 200,000 of the 230,000 are considered “essential” enough to be exempted from furlough.
Of course we all know that in reality none of them are essential.
Last chance tactic folks to reverse the nation.....
And that is to pit one govt. agency/bureau against another, at every turn.
ACA (repeal) vs. DHS employees having a job is a beginning.
First of all, Border Patrol isn’t doing it’s job anyway.
Airport security checkpoints and the SS should be shut down.
Three times as many dems voted against it as Repubs. And Obama said he would sign it.
So in this case it was the House Dems who caused the shutdown.
Essential workers will be the ones targeting domestic terrorists.
Along with 52 members of the Tea Party and Freedom Caucuses of the Republican Party.
My point is they can’t blame the Repubs this time.
Watch them.
When has the truth ever stopped Democrats or the liberal media?
They are already calling this a huge defeat for Boehner.
Yeah, they are trying to cover the fact that 3x as many Dems voted for "shutdown" as repubs.
All they do is lie.
So all the people that are tracking us will have to take a break.
Its already moot, both parties passed a one week extension. The vote was 357-60.
Why border patrols? They are not allowed to arrest anyone. Oh, sorry; forgot - they are now an escort service for illegals. And get your mind out of the gutter! I didn’t mean that kind.
I have no doubt that the same administration that was in charge of fast and furious doesn’t have some kind of terrorist attack planned. Heck the repubs gave them an extra week to get one together just prior to the next vote.
It’s a twofer. They get DHS fully funded and can blame the repubs for any atrocities.
