Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is in the midst of a heated reelection campaign. Yet he is traveling 5,900 miles to give a speech before a joint meeting of Congress on March 3 — just two weeks before Israelis go to the polls. House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio), working with Israeli Ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer, a former Republican political operative who renounced his U.S. citizenship, extended the invitation in a clear effort to undermine the president while the United States and its five partners engage in tough negotiations with Iran to prevent it from obtaining nuclear weapons — a national security priority I strongly support.
In other words, the speaker of the House has provided the Israeli prime minister with a global platform to both attack our president and deliver a campaign message to voters at home.

I understand what both of you are saying. But do either of you believe Rep. McCollum would boycott a speech given by Palestinian Authority President Abbas just before a PA election? No, there is something going on here that transcends normal D and R politics.
Is the Minnesota 4th House District where a lot of those MN Somali Muslim immigrants live or the part of Minneapolis where a lot of egghead profs at the U of MN live? Both groups are a danger to our Republic.
Obama is the most powerful leader in the world, and the chief Ayatollah of Iran is one of the most powerful Muslim leaders in the world, yet somehow we’re supposed to believe that the prime minister of the tiny state of Israel can, merely by delivering a speech, prevent those two towering figures from concluding a treaty between their countries.
Either this is madness or Benjamin Netanyahu is the most powerful human being now bestriding the globe. At least that’s how the pro-Obama media and Democrats like this foolish Congresswoman are portraying the Obama vs. Netanyahu brouhaha.
We’re supposed to envision Obama and his Ayatollah counterpart as two 98-pound weaklings cowering on a beach waiting for the big muscular he-man Netanyahu to travel 5,900 miles to prevent them from talking to each other and making a joint decision about where to have dinner. And is Obama angry! We’ve never seen him like this.

MN 4th is St. Paul (Ramsey County), not Minneapolis (Hennepin County), and has more Asians (Hmongs) than blacks.
