I doubt this is the only place this is happening. And it’s been happening a long time.
I was watching an old program yesterday about the Harris County, Texas deputy sheriff who killed a woman who spurned him. The woman’s 16 year old kid was arrested by the same cop on a trumped up gun charge. The jailers wouldn’t even charge the kid but he did have to stay in jail for the weekend. This took place in 1992.
Then why does the miranda warning start off with you have the right to remain silent
? Or are you telling me that this right you are being informed of is not actually a right, that the police are lying every time they make an arrest?
One of the major steps necessary is repeal the 17th amendment. Till then we live in a democracy....ruled by a uniparty.
I read this the other day, I agree with you.
I think this place has been around a while, couldn’t find it but it’s been mainly to take thugs to, drug dealers.
I don’t approve but cops were worse in the old days in many ways, sand-weighted gloves to hit people with. As you say, people in this facility generally aren’t even touched and released within 24 hours.
And it is from the freakin’ liberal beacon, The Guardian who is very left-wing often.
And old Mayor Daly’s Chicago, Daly called “The Boss” was notorious for heavy-handed police tactics, corruption, etc.

There will be no revolt, I agree. That’s how Stalin was able to pull millions upon millions of Christians into Siberia. No one knows the specific numbers because the Communists were masters of deceit and of destroying records.
The people had guns, but no one wanted to be the only one to die. My parents were little, but they were there, and barely escaped before heading to Siberia. I lost lots of other relatives.
To me, the turning point was TSA. There are so many things people could have done then — like all peacefully sit down in line and not move. No one did anything and all cheerfully submitted to the molesting and irradiating goons. They believe everything the govt tells them and are sooo frightened of their own shadows, that they need the frauds to protect them.
Sounds like there are no rights PERIOD to me...
We will not be ‘loaded in boxcars’, either literally or figuratively. We are not asleep. We are watching. The soap box and the ballot box are still (although dwindling) viable options. Those who are prepared to use the next box know that it would be a horrible thing to have to do. It will be done if necessary, I have no doubt of that, but the alternatives are not yet depleted.
Although the soap box and ballot box are being attacked and eroded by the powers that be, as of now, despite attempts, they have not been able to touch the last box. IMHO, that will be the tipping point, and one that I still have some doubts will ever be reached, because, in fact, by their more and more blatant attempts to do it, they are actually inspiring us to become stronger in that regard.
If it has to happen, it will. But patriots as a group are level-headed and hesitant to be extreme. When we are pushed across that line, however, heaven help us all.
I know that I am somewhat vague here, but given recent developments, I believe that is wise.
Don’t give up. Prepare. Watch. Wait. Pray.

Thanks! It's good because it's true. Fact is, I've been saying we're headed for revolt for almost 20 years, but the fact is, things just keep getting worse and worse and worse, and it has made me really look at the issues and why we are not being far more vocal than we are. The answer to that is easy: we know if we get vocal, we're going to suffer for it. And we're unwilling to risk all the "things" we have to fight back. We're happier with our "things" and money.
The part we fail to think of is that the Founders had lives, too. They had jobs, farms, families, money, etc. The difference between them and us? We're a bunch of cowards, unwilling to risk everything for the love of Country. No, there WON'T be a revolt. To do so would require far too much sacrifice on our parts. And that's just shameful.
I disagree, most respectfully. Yesterday's vote on Net Neutrality will severely damage the soap box. Even that which remains will be limited, and no longer effective. Sure, I can go stand on a street corner and preach, but what good will it do? Most will just think, "What a kook!".
The ballot box has been sorely compromised as well. We voted the heck out of the GOP this last election, and now we're getting stabbed in the back. Tells me the ballot box doesn't work anymore.
The last is horrible, but will never be used. We are far too afraid to do so. Anyone that does or has is immediately labeled "kook" "crazy" and most certainly "criminal", and that's what WE call them.

You have the right to remain silent when asked to answer questions that may INCRIMINATE you. You also may exercise the right to refuse booking questions that may tend to IDENTIFY you. However, then, the magistrate in whose jurisdiction you are arrested and charged with a crime, may also revoke your right to be released, pending araignment. Common law...common sense...and in most cases STATUTORILY PRUDENT AND REASONABLE.

then it's not a right, but a privilege.

We have the right to be free. If you murder somebody, the state has the necessary duty to supersede that right for the safety of society... to prevent flight...seek justice. Does that make ‘freedom’ a privilege?

There's a difference between accusation and punishment though — we were talking about those accused, not those convicted.
(Besides which, I don't think murderers ought to be imprisoned for lengthy sentences, only long enough for an appeal and if that falls through then immediately executed.)

Protecting the governed
can be applied to say that the need/right of the many outweigh the need/right of the few, or the one, and therefore be used to invalidate inherent rights — and that way leads to very, very bad things.

For a true revolt to occur we must be willing to give up EVERYTHING for the sake of the cause. It doesn’t mean donating some time to a new third party, some random acts of civil disobedience...it means you give it all. The Founders knew this and were willing to go to any extreme or die trying. Sadly I don’t see anyone anywhere approaching this level of desire. What has happened to us as a people?
