As Floridas governor, Jeb Bush was among the nations most conservative state chief executives. Hes quietly embarking on work to convince the right flank of the Republican Party that he would be that same kind of conservative in the White House.
Eight years removed from office, Bush is viewed by some conservatives as a squishy moderate: a member of the GOPs most established family with toxic positions on immigration and education standards.
For that reason, perhaps none of the likely 2016 candidates has more to gain than Bush at this weeks Conservative Political Action Conference, the nations largest annual conference of conservative activists.

And not surprisingly, the Associated Press would like to try to help him out, if such a feat is in any way possible.
Probably not, but they gotta try anyhow.
Typical republican. He can say “I’m a conservative and I support gay marriage and amnesty” with a straight face. And why not? Lying to get votes is what republicans do.
What conservative credentials?
He’s a Democrat in an R jersey
His last name. Do they know America does not want another Bush? They cannot be this stupid,,,, can they?
Sorry .. it’s too late. He’s already made his positions quite clear all these years .. NOW is not the time to try to change things in order to FOOL the conservatives.
I’m sure not buying any of it .. and I hope nobody else is either.
The votes of illegals should be all he needs, since theirs are so much better than ours.
Actions are louder than words, I tune him out when he speaks.
Nothing conservative about Jeb Bush. This is s no go for sure.......
He’s going to lie his ass off. Nothing evolves. Everything adapts. When he no longer has to adapt, he’ll return to his natural ideology.
Evolution, politically or biologically, doesn’t exist.
Adaptation? The GOP does it every two years.
Leopards do not change their spots, especially politically.
In other words, lie and spin.
This is beginning to remind me of the joke whose punchline goes => So the bear grabs the rifle and says to the hunter, 'you don't come here to hunt, do you?'
The headline implies Jeb was conservative to begin with.
F the large wooden badger.
Well, the AP would continue to push the “GOP = conservative” narrative, naturally.
That’s the most offensive image I’ve ever seen on FR.
What a hypocrite.
After disparaging conservatives, declaring he could win without them and wouldn’t pander to them, he’s now trying to solicit their support.
I will never vote for El Jefe Jeb.
What conservative credentials?
