At least they fought nearly to the last, more so with the 2nd parachute infantry regiment without surrendering their arms, and correct me if I am wrong but wasn’t Dien Bien Phu was a bad strategic mistake on behalf of the french higher ups.
IMHO, it seems that virtually all of their military decisions have been more or less screwed up but for those of Charles Martel which, naturally for the French, has historically come to mean the opposite.
