Actually, the first chapter of the Book of Romans says that God has brought judgment to our nation. Verse 18 to the end of the book mirrors the daily headlines in America.
The passage specifically states that God has placed a reprobate mind--a spiritual state in which minds that are incapable of understanding godly Truth and Spiritual Standards--in many people.
One test for the reprobate mind is: "I don't understand how the Bible could say that."

Everybody, but everybody, came off the Fall with a reprobate mind so we ought to be very careful about patting ourselves on the back. We might bust our arms.
