Well they certainly were right on the Rain Forests.
If you remember, we were cutting down the equivalent of 100 football fields of Rain Forest every hour. Thats why all of Central and South America is now a vast barren desert. Right??? /s
And paper bags were the victim of this environmental garbage back then.
The really sad part is, those stupid little plastic bags do decompose quite well.
They are not UV stable and they take up no room in a landfill. And they take remarkably little energy to produce.
In Walmart here in Martinez, CA they charge you .10 cents to buy their plastic bags. I would say no and just carry my stuff out the door then load them into a tote. I have a tote but sometimes I forget to bring it with me.
All of the above, but I love the plastic bags for doggy duty.
It’s been my experience that when the people in California lead the state supreme court steps in and overrules us.
O I forgot also when Walmart stop the plastic bags, a man in line at the check out was pissed. He started rambling, “Why should we pay for the bags?” “What morons voted for Obama and his morons. They are passing left and right against our liberty. You morons voted for this”. LOL I giggled, but there was truth in that especially in the Land of Fruits and Nuts Cali.
The only reason a statewide ban probably got momentum was from the squawking and caterwauling of the cities that enacted bans losing customers to nearby areas that didn’t.
I can use paper if I have to, but I’ve felt all along that the ban on plastics was unjust discrimination against us “bi-sackuals”
About 15 years ago my son moved to San Mateo Ca. We visited him and toured the area. We went on a walking tour of San Francisco and were on our way to visit Coit tower. On the way there were railings along the sidewalk that had plastic bag dispensers for cleaning up after pets. I thought that was a really good idea. Then they outlawed plastic bags. WTH?
Originally, the ban on plastic here on the coast was to stop the strangulation of sea birds in the plastic refuse. Then the junkscience argument about non-biodegradability caught on. These are Nihilists. They hate life and anyone who loves life. You’ll never win an argument with them. They make up stuff as they go. They are only good at one thing: destruction.
Paper is a better material, and its use funds forest management.
