Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald has admitted that he lied about serving in the military's special forces.
'Special Forces? What years? I was in special forces,' McDonald said when a homeless man told him he had served among the Army's elite troops.
The late January comments were caught on camera for a CBS piece about the continued large numbers of homeless veterans.

He admitted he lied and then said he never intended to misrepresent his military service. I guess this is what passes for logic in the Obama administration.
I guess Robert meant to say "Would you care for a donut?" and it just came out wrong.
Active Duty/Retiree ping.
MISSTATEMENT???? OMG.
I’m old enough to remember when we had old soldiers and old sailors homes for our homeless vets. They were run pretty much run like the county orphanages and poor farms by locals.
Geez, at least this guy was close to being SF.

Ah, yes he did. That is why he did it, to misrepresent his service.
What happened to just being proud you served, no matter what you did.
Yeah, often I forget and tell people I was a ranger. Because being a ranger is such a forgettable experience. //sarc
He did NOT admit he lied. He used every weasel word and phrase that he could think of. When I read the article I was saying “say it! Say you LIED, say the word!!! LIED. L.I.E.D. C’mon. say it”
I hate to say this. I really do, but I hate it because it’s surely quite accurate and I hate that such a large group of people, my fellow Americans, are such criminals. But here it is: He’s black, he’s Democrat, it’s 100% certain that he’s a liar and a thief. I don’t even have to look it up to be sure. Black, leftist. He’s guilty, positively.
Close isn’t good enough.
excellent post!! LOL, literally.
If you ask me, ‘Were you in special operations?’, I would have to say that I was. I was a chaplain assigned to a Spec Ops unit, but I was never, Ranger/SpecialForces/GreenPlatoon., qualified. However, my inclination is to say “NO, because I never had to go through any of the qualifications courses for what was a relatively new unit that was being formed within the SpecOps command.”
My saying “no” would also be a ‘lie’, but you’d have to first understand the reason for it. I wouldn’t want to give the impression that I’d been through their qualification courses.
I’m giving McDonald a pass on this one. First, he did graduate from the Ranger School and receive the Ranger Tab. The Ranger school is not integrated with the 75th Ranger Regiment, but the Rangers keep an extremely close relationship with that school for obvious reasons.
Second, he admitted that he wasn’t organically assigned to a Ranger unit. But those guys who’ve been through the hell of that school always consider themselves Ranger qualified, and I have ZERO doubt that the assignments branch also considers them Ranger qualified. They simply are.
Third, I can see an enthusiastic response trying to build rapport with a homeless guy (who probably lied himself), and with Ranger qualifications on his resume, leading McDonald to this kind an untruth that does have a background to it....a BIT of truth.

Yet it’s okay for the state controlled “media” to remind us everyday that their Kenyan Special Agitator took out Osama.
