Germantown, WI — An incredible story from Friday morning starts out with a black lab named John Boy, approaching a police officer.

Germantown police officer, Jeff Gonzalez deserves credit for not only refusing to do what so many other cops do when dogs approach them, but actually getting out in the freezing weather to see why this dog was loose.

“He stood there and barked a little bit, then I rolled down my window and called to him. Then he wagged his tail and got more friendly until I got out of my car. And then he ran a little bit,” said Gonzalez.

John Boy was seemingly trying to get the officer’s attention in an effort to help his owner.

“Yeah, he sure did. He pointed me in the right direction,” said Gonzalez.

John Boy led the officer up the street to a house where his owner, Krystal, was unresponsive. Krystal, who suffers from a heart condition, was slumped over in a chair outside her front door, still in her pajamas. It was dangerously cold out.

So did the dog approach a LEO specifically or was he trying to get any human's attention?

Could John Boy recognize a police car and reason that the cop inside would help?

Had John Boy interacted with LEO's before?

Don't suppose I'll ever know whether this was incredible coincidence or evidence of higher-order intelligence.

At any rate, that's a GOOD DOG

What a good boy! And the officer really is an angel. He could just as easily have ignored the dog, but instead wondered why a dog like that was roaming in that kind of weather. Kudos, sir!

Who’s a good dog? Why John Boy is a good dog!

A headline about a cop and a dog, written by a jackass.

Given the historical record, the headline writer managed to convey a shocking bit of news in a few well chosen words.

The rest of the stories at this so-called free thought project are all about how horrible and evil cops are. Even the title of this story gives them away - as if cops shoot dogs for fun.
There must be a better source for this story than this disgusting site.

My dog can tell the difference between the Christian Jordanian and the Muslim Jordanian at the local gas station. No joke.

Eagles6:" Yeah but I’ll bet she reads it first. My German Shepherd Collie never put the sections back in order so I knew!"

Probably , because the dog can't read cursive.
Actually, German Shepards are more intellignet than most voters !
and generally they start out on the comic page before making deliviery.

Given the usual headline and story about cops and dogs, I like this headline and happy ending, along with the reminder of better times and more common common sense.

Whatever the reason(s), dog and cop stories usually don't end well for the dog any more.

These days, unfortunately, Lassie and Old Yeller have about the same survival rate as Bambi on opening day.

I used to read tall tales of Paul Bunion and Pecos Bill too.

“Rare example of a cop who is not crazed dog killer.”

A headline worthy of Brian Williams.
