The federal committee responsible for nutrition guidelines is calling for the adoption of plant-based diets, taxes on dessert, trained obesity interventionists at worksites, and electronic monitoring of how long Americans sit in front of the television.
The Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (DGAC) released its far-reaching 571-page report of recommendations to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Thursday, which detailed its plans to transform the food system.

I only mentioned it in terms of the “evolutionary statement” that another poster made. We didn’t evolve, as in Evolution, but are a direct creation of God, and God Himself mandated these things for us (and not “clawing our way up the evolutionary ladder” ... LOL ...).
As far as what we are supposed to eat now, that was mandated by God, right after the Flood. As to what we will eat when Jesus returns to set up his one-world government, He will mandate that, too.

2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be on every beast of the earth, on every bird of the air, on all that move on the earth, and on all the fish of the sea. They are given into your hand.
3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs.
4 But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.
Genesis 9:2-4
I had to see if this was one of those sarcasm articles. The line between the absurd and this administration is getting mire blurry all the time.
Solvent green, here we come!
“Their TeeVees will be doing the monitoring, spying on them as they sit on the couch eating junk food. “
I think that’s the point behind smart TVs. It’s 1984, just 30 years late.
Eggs were the preferred substitute for more meat for me in tough times-beans are a last resort before starvation-when I was little and asked about a margarine commercial I saw on TV, my mom told me how it used to be packaged before those cute little butter-like sticks, and it sounded terrible.
We had plenty fresh dairy and eggs at home-and I still can get the butter, goat cheese and eggs by barter, since I live in the hinterlands-but I quit drinking milk as soon as I could say “no”-I simply have always hated the taste of it, although I like cheese, yogurt, etc-anything but milk. Since we didn’t get stuff made with sugar, I don’t care for that, either-my idea of dessert is fresh, unadorned peaches or plums.
I’m 108-110, and have worn a 3 or 5, depending on the maker since I was 17-except for a dorm/junk food binge in college when I gained 10-15 pounds-when I realized this was why I had no energy, I ditched the Mcfish sandwiches, hamburger helper, tater tots and French fries and went back to real, fresh food-energy came back and the weight came right off-I never did that again...
I’m sticking to my healthy diet that works-something else entirely may work for you-but I doubt God is upset about my rare steak or pork chops-or the fact that I also like tofu-or what your, or anyone else’s food choices are-with all that is going on right now, I’m sure he is busy getting us to actually see that Christians and Jews are being persecuted by muslims and do something to stop it...
Jesus hasn’t arrived yet ... :-) ...
My4 yr old has an egg allergy-hugely disappointing when we found that out, peanut butter or beans are the only meatless options that he can eat with us. Some days are so crazy that I don’t have time to prepare 2 meals. I do buy eggs by the 7.5 dozen case & it lasts us almost 2 weeks using them just for breakfast & the challah my kids love so much. Recipes based on homemade bone broths help stretch the meat as well.
I’m OK with the government _defining_ terms, so everyone can at least argue about the same thing. A friend was fond of this point, observing “the government should, say, define what a ‘fish stick’ is - so nobody could claim a fish-flavored blob of fried dough is one, or something other than what people can and should think of by the term ‘fish stick’.” I agree, and see that as a current issue with “marriage”: there is an objective & productive difference between one pairing of genders vs others, so it makes sense to define “marriage” (or _some_ term) to differentiate one from the other because there actually is a difference that matters. I’m not saying the government should compel or prohibit certain behaviors (though I may have my own opinions thereon), but let’s at least agree on the same definitions for certain words.
Per this thread, I’d have no problem with the government defining “vegetarian” because there is a typically included gray area that includes animal products (cheese, eggs), which some people want/need differentiated from the plant-only definition of “vegan”, which in turn has the subset of “fruitarian” (fruits exclusively, nothing that destroys the plant like carrots or lettuce). Define a “plant-based diet”? great. Just don’t tax or jail me for consuming bacon.
LOL!
These people want every single one of living in a concrete tower block in a high-density urban death maze, eating sprouts three times a day underneath a bare non-incandescent bulb while we watch nothing but PBS and Soccer.
Balls to that.
lentils and yogurt are good sources of protein
Yogurt isn’t plant-based.
Yogurt isn’t vegetable based and like I said, you can only eat so many beans. But yes, both are good sources of protein. Not, however, as good as skim milk, cottage cheese, beef, fish and chicken breasts.
Ha... I left comments...thanks

Indeed let us not forget how it they will give them reason to increase taxes for all those jobs.
Electric cars run on coal.
Solves our meat problem and saves the government money (taxpayers money), at the same time. Sounds like a win/win situation.
