Some years ago this stuff was derided as "financial porn." I think it was an apt characterization, as it seems to be addicting to some poor souls, delivering a cheap thrill, even as it distorts reality for them.

Users self-destruct while increasing efforts to ignore or twist reason for their ever stronger emotional attachment to a cherished meme.
