Scott Walker dismisses 'elitist' criticism that he dropped out of college

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is dismissing "elitist" critics who say his lack of a college degree could work against him should he run for president.

Last week, former Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean brought up Walker's lack of education, saying, “The issue is, how well educated is this guy?”

"I worry about people being president of the United States not knowing much about the world and not knowing much about science," Dean said on MSNBC. "I worry about that."

Einstein actually dropped out of high school, but later was conditionally admitted to the Swiss Federal Polytechnic Institute in Zurich on the basis of his high scores on the mathematics part of the entrance exam. He received a diploma from SFPI in 1900.

>>The more the left nit picks and complains, the more I like Scott Walker. He may end up being my candidate.<<

Yes, I agree. What I find interesting is that the Left can’t find anything on him so they’re forced to resort to issues like “won’t answer the question” or “didn’t finish college” (which they tend to put as “not a college graduate” so that the ill-informed can regurgitate as “didn’t attend college”).

Yet the so-far-little-noticed effect of their efforts has been to rally conservatives behind Walker and, more important, to lead conservatives to Left-wing websites to defend him. And, since defense agains their lame attacks so far is so easily done, the low-info voters who frequent those sites are getting an education in how weak the attacks on Walker really are.

Meanwhile, the more people defend Walker at such times, the more invested they become in his success. I know that because it’s happening to me. The more I point out the holes in their criticisms, or the outright lies his detractors spew (supposedly Walker, according to one comment for example, is on the verge of defaulting on a $2 billion dollar state bond), the more I want him to win.

In other words, the Left’s current efforts could be backfiring on them, both by building conservative enthusiasm for Walker among those taking the time to defend him, and by educating the low-info voters as to the weakness of the supposed criticisms against him. The nearly-continuous vetting that he received the last four years could turn out to be his greatest asset.

And was “How to get around that pesky Constitution” the title of one of them?

Lol. Exactly.

Actually we can use Dean's argument against him — probably 90% of the people in Congress and the President are unqualified to make decisions about global warming since very few of them took even very basic classes in the sciences.

Tell me, in one sentence, how Barry Soetoro got elected president.

David Plouffe and David Axlerod.

I believe they could get Charles Manson elected POTUS if he wanted to run.

Leaving a well regarded college after three years hardly impugns Walker’s knowledge or intellect. How much can one learn in one year after all. But I would think the folks here on FR would be more concerned by the fact that except for a stint in marketing at the Red Cross, Walker’s entire professional career has been in elective politics. You expect that kind of CV from, say, Gerry Nadler, but not from a torchbearer of Tea Party values.

I agree 100%. I like a lot of what Walker has to say, but he's a career politician with almost zero private sector experience.

I'd like Obama to give a dissertation on global warming.

No science involved in doing that - it's religion.
