A prominent D.C. lobbyist who advises House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) believes Republicans opposed to President Barack Obamas executive amnesty must have a total and complete defeat in their defunding efforts.
In an interview with The Hill before a federal judge halted Obamas executive amnesty on Monday evening, John Feehery said that anti-amnesty Republicans are going to have a total and compete defeat on attaching the defunding provisions to the Homeland Security funding bill. He said that Republicans will have to pass an unencumbered spending bill because Obamas war resolution will be up for a vote around the same time.
Speaking of Senators like Jeff Sessions (R-AL) who believe Republicans can win the defunding fight, Feehery simply said, thats not going to happen.
He said every Republican with any type of sense knows that a clean Homeland Security funding bill must be passed. Since House Republicans do not want to be put in a position of voting for a bill if their Senators will not vote for it, Feehery said Republicans have to be all-in on an unencumbered funding bill because it would be catastrophically stupid if the Department of Homeland Security shuts down for a couple of days. He said the the less Republicans talk about immigration the better off they are.
As Breitbart News has noted, Feehery has supported Arlen Specter over Pat Toomey and favored Charlie Crist over Marco Rubio, and he works at a lobbying firm founded by a Bill Clinton adviser who persuaded Clinton to infamously pardon Marc Rich.

“Feehery said previously said that the new Republican majority in Congress should pass comprehensive amnesty legislation pronto and referred to Tea Partiers as haters and the bad guys. As Breitbart News noted, Feehery worked for former House Minority Leader Bob Michel (R-IL), whom Rush Limbaugh has described a sweetly irrelevant pushover who was the most compliant loser on the face of the earth
Funny you said that. I wrote a book about Rove, and an article about Feehery (called him the worst Republican consultant ever).
He’s making me look good every day....
Feeheery - how about if we shut down the whole govt - all of it. Would that work for ya? Too bad no one has the gonads to do it.
Just be clear: the Republicans are totally in favor of executive amnesty.
Yes I remember that article. He’s a total scumbag!
Irrefutable truth that Steve scalise has been bought and paid for.
Yep. They get amnesty for their masters in the US Chamber of Commerce, but they don’t get the blame!
The Cheap Labor Express had paid millions for an amnesty and they want it.
This guy is just one of many on the payroll.
Trying to con Americans out of their country isn’t cheap or easy.
Feehery and most GOP political consultants are the enemy of Liberty and Freedom.
Well, a positive spin to that will be that I’ll never have to bother voting Republican again, and since I would never vote Democrat, I can just sit here and drink beer.
A complete defeat in effect puts a match to the Constitution.Of course that is what the left wants more than anything.
Why are you picking on the job creators?
Just wow. Why would Scalise hire this guy as an advisor? You could argue that a conservative might want one moderate advisor so he doesn’t end up with an echo chamber. You could argue a moderate wants a moderate advisor. But this guy’s track record is just obscenely terrible.
With guys like feehery in powerful positions in the gop it doesnt give this voter the urge to vote for gop.
So who elected this John Feehery to anything?
I bet last fall when the budget fight was in full blown mode this little ass advised Scalise to push for funding for the D.H.S be dealt with this spring to get thru the pork ridden spendathon.
Anyone paying attention knew it was nothing more than a delay to fight while the RINOs in charge could formulate a plan of surrender.
Unfortunately for them there is One Circuit Judge that believes in the rule of law, Constitution and Seperation of power.
“Anyone paying attention knew it was nothing more than a delay to fight while the RINOs in charge could formulate a plan of surrender.”
I don’t think they expected such a fight on the Cromnibus, and all the phone calls and emails, or the Boehner challenge.
The people are pissed, and they’re letting their congressmen know, and we’re seeing the results.
Steve Scalise is Eric Cantor with a different hairstyle.
Feehery interviewing with ‘The Hill’; a veritable 1st Tier Beltway Echo Chamber paid for by generous donations of the US Chamber of Commerce aka the Chamber of Communists.
USCOC is pissed maximally at Judge Hanen’s decision and is at this moment in meetings about how much money they need to leverage to regain the momentum they had, or thought they had. Right now there’s a war room convening about which Appellate Judge to steer the appeal to and who to pay off to get the steerage done.
