Columnist Charles Krauthammer compared President Obamas handling of the war on terror to James Buchanan before the Civil War on Mondays OReilly Factor on the Fox News Channel.

Come on, Chuck — comparing Obama to a president, even a crappy president? That’s not fair!
What it all means is that most likely a GOPer is going to get into the WH next and like Abe Lincoln, a WAR will errupt, most likely in the Middle East.
“...a WAR will errupt, most likely in the Middle East.”
A war has already erupted and odumbo is out golfing. you must have missed that.

Has the Kraut ever admitted that he was wrong when he was all giddy about Obama?
Krautbanger is playing hockey with a warped puck..
Being an elite effete means never having to say you’re sorry.
Now THERE'S a sobering thought...
To fair to Charles, I don’t think that “the Kraut” knew any more about this ghost than the rest of us. We still don’t know squat about him . . . well other than he likes to play golf.
Actually he did get one other thing right last night...he said, contrary to the other two dolts on the panel, including George Wil, the GOP should go to the mat on the homeland bill.
He pointed out there would be no actual “shut down” as most employees are essential. I think it was he who said they should take out the filibuster, pass it on a straight party vote and send it on to the AH in the WH.
James Buchanan left after one term because he knew he sucked.
What, you have not heard of the Bulwinkle Strategy. OK, I will repeat it as proposed by Freeper Bulwinkle in yesterdays discussions on whether or not to invoke the "Reid Rule":
Not yet... Let DHS funding expire first, then invoke the reid rule... Then let obama veto to keep DHS unfunded...
Reinvoking the Reid Rule would effectively eliminate the filibuster and force a straight up or down vote on ending funding for Homeland Security while stopping Obama's illegal Executive Orders on amnesty. And Krauthammer agrees. Amazing.
Right now it can be compared to a camp fire that the folks who lit it forgot to put it out in full, and from that it becomes a brush fire before it becomes a major forest fire.
Right now we are at that stage, a period of transition.
You got it.
During the time that the 15th President was in office, the seeds were being planted to end up sprouting during the time of the 16th President’s time in office called the CIVIL WAR.
Well we have a 21st century version of Buchanan right now with Obama.
Historians can fight over whether Buchanan or Obama was the first gay president.
They do have their similarities.....
Per Wiki:
Buchanan was nominated by the Democratic Party in the 1856 Presidential election. Throughout most of Pierce’s term, he was stationed in London as a minister to the Court of St. James’s and therefore was not caught up in the crossfire of sectional politics that dominated the country.
As President, he was often called a “doughface”, a Northerner with Southern sympathies, who battled with Stephen A. Douglas for the control of the Democratic Party. Buchanan’s efforts to maintain peace between the North and the South alienated both sides, and the Southern states declared their secession in the prologue to the American Civil War. Buchanan’s view of record was that secession was illegal, but that going to war to stop it was also illegal.
By the time he left office, popular opinion was against him, and the Democratic Party had split. Buchanan had once aspired to a presidency that would rank in history with that of George Washington.
However, his inability to identify a ground for peace or address the sharply divided pro-slavery and anti-slavery partisans with a unifying principle on the brink of the Civil War has led to his consistent ranking by historians as one of the worst presidents in American history.
Historians in both 2006 and 2009 voted his failure to deal with secession the worst presidential mistake ever made.
In 1818, Buchanan met Anne Caroline Coleman. Conflicting rumors abounded, suggesting that he was marrying her for her money, because his own family was less affluent, or that he was involved with other women. Buchanan never publicly spoke of his motives or feelings, but letters from Anne revealed she was paying heed to the rumors.
After Coleman’s death, Buchanan never courted another woman or seemed to show any emotional or physical interest; a rumor circulated of an affair with President James K. Polk’s widow, Sarah Childress Polk, but it had no basis. It has been suggested that Anne’s death in fact served to deflect awkward questions about his sexuality and bachelorhood. While Buchanan may have been asexual or celibate, there are many indicators that suggest he was homosexual. The argument has been put forward by Shelley Ross, biographer Jean Baker, sociologist James W. Loewen, Robert P. Watson, and historian John Howard.
“most likely a GOPer is going to get into the WH next and like Abe Lincoln, a WAR will errupt”
Just as 911 happened just after 8 years of slick Willie!
