Obama Immigration Policy Halted by Federal Judge in Texas

A federal judge in Texas has ordered a halt, at least temporarily, to President Obama’s executive actions on immigration, siding with Texas and 25 other states that filed a lawsuit opposing the initiatives.

In an order filed on Monday, the judge, Andrew S. Hanen of Federal District Court in Brownsville, prohibited the Obama administration from carrying out programs the president announced in November that would offer protection from deportation and work permits to as many as five million undocumented immigrants. The first of those programs was scheduled to start receiving applications on Wednesday.

If specific violations can be found, drag those actually implementing a denied process or procedure ( like handing out documents ) and jail those individuals for being in violation of the judge’s order (it’s contempt of court and you go directly to jail on the judge’s order). Do it over and over, working your way up the food chain......

Obama can ignore this if he wishes, but the onus is now on the minions. Legal jeopardy accrues to anyone who signs up an illegal for legal job status. Enforcement mechanism? The judge declared the states to have standing, the "mechanism" then, will reside with the states, and I cannot see them not enforcing with a degree of urgency.

Yes, Obama will want to defy the ruling, but will those within the agencies risk prosecution? I don't think so, and that's why this is a bigger deal than it might seem.

I realize this is only a temporary injunction, an appeal has already been filed I'm sure, but it goes to the Fifth Circuit in New Orleans, largely composed of Reagan and HW Bush appointees.

If this does produce a win for the good guys, then we will see how important it was in 2010 and 2014 that we won the governorships and state houses.

I was reading on a post on an earlier thread that the 5th Circuit is a fairly conservative (or at least conservative-leaning) court. And, that if it goes up from there that Justice Scalia covers the 5th Circuit.

Like this is going to stop Obama from doing anything he wants to do!

I get sick every time I think about how the majority of American voters picked Obama not once but twice.
