I agree. We or at least, many of us, are a bit detached from the horrible realities of what you said.
I don’t want to call Egypt secular or ‘was secular’ but I’m under the impression that if you wanted booze or to watch a belly dancer or even see the pyramids, things like that, you could do it. In fact, that resort on the sea in Egypt was attacked some years ago because it had Israeli tourists there.
