Perhaps Christian awareness will catch up to the situation. The relatively “new” dispensationalism is about the only Christian philosophy on the market that is inclined in that direction.
You probably already know this, but for those who don’t, dispensationalism is relatively new because the Church forgot the faithfulness of our God and tried to reinterpret the plain reading of scripture to fit the facts we knew at the time. When the prophets referred to Israel in the scriptures, they really meant Israel.
Prior to 1948 it was difficult to believe there ever would be an Israel again, after Babylon’s apparently final conquest of Judah in 587 BC. That’s understandable. There was no Israel for over 2500 years! The “experts” figured the prophecies about a renewed Israel must have referred to the church.
But, lo and behold, once again we have an Israel, just as the prophets foretold. Maybe right now it’s just a bare bones Israel, perhaps with muscle and sinew, but some day those bones are going to a new SPIRIT! I believe that will happen when they recognize Jesus as their Messiah.
This may not be that day. But Bibi’s call for the Jews to return to Israel is a beginning.
