Muslim cleric Ismail al-Wahwah....THE leader of an extremist Islamic group has sent a veiled threat to Prime Minister Tony Abbott that they will move underground if banned by the Federal Government.

The Federal Government is taking steps to shut down Hizb Ut-Tahrir under a new round of counter terrorism legislation which will outlaw Islamic groups that preach hatred and promote extremism.

The legislation, that will be introduced to parliament by the end of the month, will allow Australia to label Hizb ut-Tahrir a terrorist organisation.

In an open letter to Mr Abbott, Muslim cleric Ismail al-Wahwah said that to succeed in banning Hizb ut-Tahrir, “you would have to attempt that which has not been attempted before”.....He said despite regimes in Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Russia and others banning the group, the “failure of those regimes in exterminating the call of Hizb ut-Tahrir is evident”....“If the German example may appeal to you, then I advise you to consult them and take a lesson or two from their failure, before you follow suit.”

The Hebron-born preacher, who also goes by the name Abu Anas, said Mr Abbott would have to “prevent the flow of air” to stop them.

“You will be successful in banning ideas and their spread when you are able to prevent the flow of air itself.”
