There is probably a time coming, and it might just be here now, when a college degree is a negative indicator when one considers the muck they teach as values.
It depends on the degree. A degree in some non traditional study such as Womens Studies or something stupid like that will obviously show a potential employer that you really have no clue about how the world works and would also be a warning to anyone who might consider hiring them that they are a lawsuit waiting to happen.

What seems clear to me is that Howard Dean's objection to Gov. Walker on grounds of his lack of a college degree is a "class thing." The "ruling class" must have college degrees, dontcha know!
And yet I have met so many people in my life who have degrees "up the yingyang" who are total ignoramuses on any subject matter outside their educational specialty. Such are precisely the sort of "rulers" I strongly prefer not to be "ruled by."
They simply have no concept of what they don't know. But their degrees give them endless self-confidence, and self-satisfaction....
