Unless a person who is right handed stabs themselves because it’s easy to wind up and override the anti-stab defense most people have. She probably figured she had to stab herself to appear convincing.
That sounds plausible. She’d have to have help to write the words on her, though.

She alleges that she fought the man off her, and then he pulled out a knife and stabbed her. Well, people who are really fighting someone off while getting stabbed have defensive wounds to their hands from trying to block the attack or grab the weapon.
