Yeah I am sparky. But for a young girl her age to throw her life away like that isn’t a miracle, its a waste of a precious gift.
From high school on, girls are propagandized into this idea that in their 20s they should be out among the savages, “making history”, “doing something”.
The Universities push it a lot. Churches push it too.
So you get these girls back in their late 20s, who have no job skill other than NGO, volunteerism baloney. They have no way to make a living, and temperamentally, they cant settle down and live life.
Its a bill of goods they sell them, and they give up the time in their life that they should find their husband. In their mid 30s we hear them whining that there aren’t any good men. Guess what, they found someone while you were out getting your Syrian picaninny photos made.
You might think im mean, but hopefully someone else will work to stop another girl from such stupidity. Syria, in a civil war. Lunacy. I wont indulge in the lofty poetry about it.
Invictus is so lofty. But it was a waste, and many people had a hand in getting her there.
Nothing but a lunatic would encourage their daughter down such a path. The arena she should have been in was here at home, having a normal life, not out finding out what ISIS does to American college girls.
That rhetoric of yours is precisely what makes kids forgo being a normal productive citizen, and head off to some foreign hell hole on other peoples dime, and call it work.
I honestly have much more respect for a couple out of college who gets married, and goes to a real job every day, and who get no “look at me” spotlight.
People scoff at them, but that’s who’s really “in the arena”. Not the ones on extended vacation from life.
I wasn’t aware that all of America has been saved, and that every little corner of sadness and poverty had been fixed here.
Waste.
So every foreign missionary is now wasting their time. Interesting. Must be some church you go to.
Yesh .. i’pol ichizhe ... Brian Williams
A lot of them are, yes. Not all, but some indeed. Being a Christian doesn’t mean you must be a wide eyed dolt. And I see no reason to cross the earth to a war zone when there are deep needs within 10 miles.
I think its selfish mostly.
I fail to see how someone working in a foreign hell hole somewhere is getting a “look at me” spotlight. Unless they get killed of course.
What you are advocating is antithetical to the teachings of the Gospel. Jesus did not call us to a comfortable life. And you seem to want to heap scorn and abuse on those who follow that calling.
Mark 10:29-30 Truly I tell you, Jesus replied, no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fieldsalong with persecutionsand in the age to come eternal life.
I don’t think she was a missionary
No church or particular religious affiliation
She followed a boy didn’t she
Its naive and quite sad
The news conference pretty much confirmed what many here surmised originally
Shiney faced folks hopelessly clueless about the world while they anesthetize themselves with equating religions and cultures
It’s crazy frankly
The world can be brutal...I’ve lived it
I would never turn a young woman loose in it
So missionaries who give up everything to go to who knows where to proclaim the Gospel are.... selfish. And people who stay here living nice comfortable lives aren’t. Got it. Thanks.
I cannot imagine the pain of her parents.
Kayla is safe. I will pray for her family.
Exactly, I cannot imagine.
