“His communications director, Tom Evenson, explained that a pathway to citizenship that requires individuals to face penalties to gain citizenship does not qualify as “amnesty,” a position he repeated in an e-mail to National Review Online”.

Same as Jeb’s, pro-amnesty.

McCain says his various amnesty plans from 2006 forward aren’t amnesty either. If illegal aliens don’t go home and apply like everyone else, it’s amnesty.
The 1986 amnesty was supposed to be a “one time only, never to be repeated” since we now (1986) had laws in place to prevent future illegal aliens.
The Chamber of Cheap Labor has paid our politicians to not enforce those laws, the only part of Simpson-Mazzoli implemented was the amnesty. There has never been any real effort to curb the employment of illegal aliens.
Why should we believe that there is any intention of enforcing new laws when they have refused to enforce the ones we have now?

Walker seems to be plan B if Jeb flames out, as it appears he’s doing with every public utterance. Their position on illegal aliens is indistinguishable.
