I’m not saying that cops should be nannies and check up on people, just because we’ve requested them to do so.

However, we’ve accepted that as part of the role of the police as they serve the community and when they perform this role they are allowed to act extra-Constitutionally.

Whoa there! Are you serious?

Who is "We"? And what is this extra-constitutional authority you have given police? I understand wanting to have other people's welfare in your heart, but it belongs there and not in the state's hands.

A good healthy conversation though! It would seem we've narrowed it all down to giving up one's constitutional rights for the convenience of peace of mind on the welfare of others detached from your control.
