I dealt with some auditors from one of the big firms; of the three, one was an American guy, one was a Canadian woman who had waited five years to be able to work/live here, and the third was a young Filipino guy. The worst part was that their salaries weren’t even much lower than an American worker’s; the flip side was that they worked much longer hours than companies could ever expect to squeeze out of Americans.

I feel lucky to have a job from the “before-times”, with medical/dental benefits (not great - or expensive, but I don’t have to deal with ObamaCare), vacation time that has built up over several years, and a fairly predictable workweek that doesn’t require much unpaid overtime. I couldn’t imagine looking for work today; I see what is offered out there, and understand why so many Americans leave the northeast rather than deal with pay cuts to try to survive here.

Anyone I know who lost a job in the last decade and found work again in the same field is making a lot less money; it seems as though firms simply swapped their middle-aged staffs to reduce salaries and reset the clock on accrued vacation time...

We need a Republican candidate for president who will pledge to abolish H-1B.

SCE is a regulated monopoly.

Can’t hurt to complain about these tactics to the Public Utilities Commission.

I was lucky. I found another job closer to home for almost the same money within three months. The old company liquidated the factory not long after I left. My replacement got canned too.

I remember back when you could walk into a McDonalds and see OBVIOUS AMERICANS working in those jobs. Now they are held by OBVIOUS ILLEGALS, many of which can barely speak useful English. It is a catastrophic trend in America. Just follow the money.

While I understand your sentiment and share it, your example is a poor one. The whole and I mean whole, reason that the majority of fast food jobs went to...Hispanics is plain and simple because children were told and taught that those jobs were beneath them, low class and crappy. And the economy was booking and parents gave their kids everything without having to work for it. It was the start of the destruction of the work ethic, I know I was in the middle of it, I was the guy that friggin Manager white customers( I be White too) came up to and said " Your McDonald's is very nice and clean, but" and I would finish for them, but why don't very many of your people speak english? Funniest thing was they had high school kids but no way would they let let them work there. That's why in the last year I managed I would just tell them to screw themselves. There that's my rant, sorry.

None of this would be happening had it not been for the Traitor-In-Chief increasing foreign worker Visas. As shown on Drudge ‘1 in 5 jobs now held by foreign workers’. BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE FOREIGNER HIMSELF! How many of these SCE workers voted for Hussein and his ‘CHANGE’???

Should help keep our electric bills lower. Corporations are there to make a profit and can’t operate like a church.

Every two years or so some egotistic conman in college develops a “world changing” programming language that everyone MUST know in order to compete.

This allows the know-nothing managers to justify hiring H-1B’s and college grads who kinda-sorta know the new language to appear more qualified than veteran programmers who haven’t had time yet to pick it up. “

Excellent observation.

On the face of it, doing this is against the law. I am sure there is corruption - i.e. Executive branch policy directives.

But what you describe provides the justification.

It doesn’t really, but I guess they use it.

About 15 years ago American employers decided to dump Americans and replace them with non-Americans. They give all kinds of excuses, and lies but don’t believe them. This is deliberate and intentional.

Unfortunately Ted Cruz has sponsored a bill that will increase H-1Bs instead of reducing them. One of the few things so far I disagree with him on.

Indeed. So what makes you think their cost savings will be passed on to you through lower rates?

The company I work for - a Fortune 500 company - is moving the Accounts Payable dept to India. My dept (tax) is all dreading having to deal with this. But the thing is, our AP people were way low on the payscale. I guess working your butt off for 30k a year for 15 years just isn’t good enough.

I think these rich companies should tell their shareholders that they’re going to be a little more patriotic and live with a lesser profit (lower share price), pay Americans to do the jobs, because in the end it’s better for every American. Of course then the money would run screaming to companies that don’t give a $hit about Americans having jobs...so this is why we are in the rotten spiral.

IBM is getting closer and closer to being full-fledged Titanic. Another 5,000 just laid off in the U.S., and I doubt most people heard a peep. Another huge lot who are on severe probation and might lose their jobs shortly. More and more replacements overseas and H-IBs here.

IBM stopped posting the number of US employees remaining, a long time ago. I think the best guess after this last round is 75 or 80K left, out of over 430K worldwide. I think 130K in India.

I'd feel more compassion for "southern California IT workers" if I didn't think they probably voted 9-1 for Obama, who is running this sh&t.

Even if it were true that they were all Obama voters (and that isn't guaranteed), it's not as if this sort of thing didn't happen under Republicans, and I bet plenty of Republicans support it, thus giving the Dems cover. That is why voting for liberal Republicans hurts conservatism in the long term more than short-term losses.

I’m very troubled over your current living arrangements. I will say a prayer for you, and plan to continue praying. The America today is nothing like the America of six years ago. Obama’s ‘fundamental transformation’ has wreaked devastation upon all of us.

Congress has done this but they are too busy with their politics to pay attention to how they have screwed Americans. There is no other word for it!

I hope Californians wake up one day. But I doubt they will. They voted for someone who promised to kill their jobs.
