Driving on Cruz Control?
The American Thinker ^ | 2/3/2015 | Doris O'Brien

... Among them will be Ted Cruz, who from the inception of his political career a dozen years ago has used his rhetorical wits to establish himself as a true conservative. The result is that the junior senator from Texas has become the darling of the GOP's right flank, many of whom are enthusiastic about the idea of electing him our next president. I'm not one of them. It works to a political speaker's favor to tell his audience what they want to hear. Cruz was a champion debater in college, so he knows how to score points with the judges. Certainly he feels comfortable in his conservative shoes. But of late, Ted Cruz has tweaked this comfort zone a few notches to a rather self-serving, holier-than-thou assumption that he is the only viable Republican presidential candidate who holds consistently to conservative beliefs.

I tried giving that a shot this morning (editing my about page) and it gave me the following message:

“Sorry, your account is too new to use this feature.”

Which seems to be happening a lot. I’ll try to figure out how long or how many posts I need to make before it stops doing that.

I think most Cubans who came to this country are anti-communist. Most U.S. immigrated eastern Europeans are anti-communist and socialist in the least little way. I know a guy who works on my parent’s Mercedes who immigrated from Hungary. His Stalin jokes are HIlarious.

I probably should not have posted this in the first place since I just got here. Not too smart.

It was a little . . . industrial strength . . . for one of your first posts! LOL!

We like strong opinions around here. It gives us something to think about and discuss. But we like those strong opinions to be well-supported in fact and reason, not merely emotional. I haven’t gone back to your original post to see the exact quotes, but saying things like, “I’ve seen his kind before” and just not liking lawyers in general, are emotion-based. Not much “there” there.

I’ll close with one last thought: When I was in HS and the Gipper became president, I hated him with a passion. I hated his grating voice and his old-man jokes. But I was ignorant and young, and preoccupied with school so I didn’t bother to dig into what Reagan actually had to say. I didn’t come to appreciate him and what he did for this country until the last few years. I suggest that since you’re fresh off the liberal “boat,” you may want to actively try to evaluate political personages using only logic, and deliberately leaving emotion out as much as possible. Just a thought. ;o)
