Parents do have choice.

Those who don’t vaccinate their kids for measles are making the wrong choice.

Dr Paul is a loony.

Not vaccinating against the measles is the “wrong choice” eh? Might want to check that with the CDC:

http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/hcp/vis/vis-statements/mmr.html

___

“Some people should not get MMR vaccine or should wait.

Anyone who has ever had a life-threatening allergic reaction to the antibiotic neomycin, or any other component of MMR vaccine, should not get the vaccine. Tell your doctor if you have any severe allergies.
Anyone who had a life-threatening allergic reaction to a previous dose of MMR or MMRV vaccine should not get another dose.
Some people who are sick at the time the shot is scheduled may be advised to wait until they recover before getting MMR vaccine.
Pregnant women should not get MMR vaccine. Pregnant women who need the vaccine should wait until after giving birth. Women should avoid getting pregnant for 4 weeks after vaccination with MMR vaccine.
Tell your doctor if the person getting the vaccine:
Has HIV/AIDS, or another disease that affects the immune system
Is being treated with drugs that affect the immune system, such as steroids
Has any kind of cancer
Is being treated for cancer with radiation or drugs
Has ever had a low platelet count (a blood disorder)
Has gotten another vaccine within the past 4 weeks
Has recently had a transfusion or received other blood products

Any of these might be a reason to not get the vaccine, or delay vaccination until later.”

Many in the anti-vaccine community are not against vaccines for the reasons you think. For example, they are for the European measles vaccine, European mumps vaccine and the European Rubella vaccine. These do not have the same correlation with autism. They are just against the 3 in one American MMR vaccine which has a high correlation.

They also have problems with the preservative Thimerosol, which is banned in many other countries. The FDA now advises against its use in the US. It has slowly been replaced. It is only being currently used in multi-dose packages of certain vaccines and flu shots. The slightly more expensive single dose packs do not contain thimerosol.

Alot of it boils down to manufacturing methods and corporate profits.

I know the parents of a couple autistic kids. Kids who were normal until vaccinations. They are very bitter about this. Bitter is not a good word....
