Gillespie got grief for anti-religious stuff he wrote on the website suck.com. That was in 2000, a lot longer ago than I thought, so maybe there's a statute of limitations.

Anyway, the reason he thinks the GOP loves schmucks aren't the reasons a lot of conservatives think the party loves schmucks. Now that I've finally looked through the article, it looks like he has different schmucks in his sights, too.
