One of the nations most well known, and controversial, civil rights activists the Rev. Al Sharpton Jr. is coming to Sarasota.
Sharpton, also a television and radio personality, is scheduled to give a keynote address to the Howard Club of Southwest Floridas 10th annual scholarship luncheon on March 28.
At the same event, the Howard Club will honor boxing promoter Don King, famous for working with some of the biggest names in professional boxing, including Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Forman and Mike Tyson.

Where and when did that happen? Got a link?
Sarasota is Pretty CONSERVATIVE!!! It’s NOT “New York liberal” like the East Coast.
I remember Sarasota as a pristine place in the 70s and 80s. Times change.
HOPEFULLY,..the sharpton aroma can be readily eliminated upon his departure
Thanks. We recently moved to an area NE of Sarasota and didn’t know about Newtown. We would stay clear of any neighborhood with a MLK bvd, but might have strayed into it by ignorance and accident.
No problem. We need to meet up sometime. I have a small place on LBK.
Sharpton will never pay his taxes, because Obama told the IRS union thugs to leave him alone
