The weather guy has a point. Joe Bastardi points out that the European and Japanese models for North America have been to be closer to what happens than the US models.

It was the European model that got it wrong and it was the US GFS model that got it right.

Fine, but then they conspired to present the model with the highest fear factor to feed the egos of tyrants, threaten citizens, as well as train them to expect it all the time.

Around three years ago in DC....huge warning went out of a snowstorm coming. They decided that instead of a two-hour delay which would be perfectly legit....they’d eat up the entire day. The snow stopped around 9AM and it was all melted by noon. I commented about this to an older guy who said in the 1970s...snow-days just never did occur in DC...folks drove and maybe got there an hour late but it was acceptable.
