File this under the one where Friends fail to fits in with modern gender politics'.
By the standards of circa-2015 political correctness, does the long-running sitcom pass the test? The show that brought a huge young audience to NBCs primetime lineup in the 1990s was apparently a hotbed of anti-gay, misogynistic antics and all-around bigotry.
Thats according to the historical revisionists over at Slate, where Ruth Graham has been taking notes while binge-watching reruns on Netflix. Could it be the next Amos n Andy?
Isnt the problem obvious? In the 1990s, PC extremism was still confined to college campuses, while a primitive, bitter-clinging America at-large had yet to be indoctrinated.
From her sofa, Graham has found appalling examples of behavior that wouldnt play in 2015, finding some that come across as painfully CBS. Ouch!

I am sick of Social Justice Warriors shoving there cultural Marxism down our throats.
I think JA is nice looking, but she’s gotta be higher maintenance than a 1970’s British car.
Who knows?? Probably lots of the guys in that profession and entertainment culture are also high maintenance.
Well, there’s no incentive to put up with their bull.
It would have been better with out the Diane character
LOL
You know, as a woman, I appreciate beauty, and I like to see women taking care of themselves and making the most of what they have. But let’s face it, those two are just not in the same league with, say, Catherine Zeta-Jones (just as one example).
I always thought Anniston had a hot body with an average girl next door face. Certainly not homely, but not the conventional Hollywood beauty. I think that’s been the secret of her appeal.
I was watching some clips of American Bandstand on YouTube here recently. One was from the 80s, and Dick Clark introduced a song by Wang Chung. And he said “Wang Chung” in a fake/quasi Chinese accent. They’d have his head on a stick if he did that these days.
reminds me of electronics, computers and computer networks that that I work in
we no longer can have slave devices connected to a masters device.
no longer can have a pair of dykes to cut wires
or use a gender bender to connect two wires with the same gender connectors on the end....
I think soon the use of the terms male and female for plugs and receptacles will no longer be acceptable
hey I like Jennifer Aniston she’s actually pretty cool and not a flaming liberal.. she did a South Park once where she was dogging on green environmental idiots over the rainforest
oh come on Cheers was had some great lines
Norm: “it’s a dog eat dog world out there... and I’m wearing milkbone underwear!”
Selleck was so very hot in those episodes. At that time I envied Monica’s character, who got hugs from him.
I used to see him around Hawaii a lot when Magnum was filming. He is very riveting.
I’m glad he’s a 2nd amendment defending conservative, too.
I don’t know if she’s supposed to be beautiful, or just cute.
I live in LA and saw Julia Roberts once. I don’t like her, but I have to admit in person she IS absolutely stunning looking.
Good verbiage!
Yes!!!!
That is good news.
